So then I go and cuss her out because two days before the dance I find out that she wants to go with her ex. Then her friend calls me and says that I need to calm the **** down and that I shouldn't be yelling at her and she did say yes to me. I wasn't really buying it, because the friend was doing all the texting, the friend said that she really wanted to go with me. So now after all this, the girl I am going with I think is mad at me, and my friend's mad at me(I don't know why,lol). Text is bad. And for the bar thing to look good, you have to make a slim bar, one solid color. Then fill the top white on a new layer, lower opacity, and TADAH!!You have the bar effect.

It's okay, but there's too much contrast on the left, and none on the right. You need to balance it out a bit. Also, the text could be blended better.
