  1. seems like fewer players to me as well.
  2. Ok, I have just been looking over some of MLB 2k12 fake names. Only have got through the free agent catchers, but the birthdates on these, B/T, match, and Ht. and Wt. either match or are close. So, here goes. C Scott Lee = C Kevin Cash C Felipe Marquez = Edwin Bellorin C Jeff Harris = John Hester C Willie Castillo = Konrad Schmidt C Justin Richardson = Brian Esposito C Jason Wagner = Paul Phillips C Robert Jackson = Max Ramirez C Rafael Liriano = Paul Hoover C Randy Jefferson = Max St. Pierre C Rex Shields = Gregg Zaun C Reggie Young = Bryan Anderson C Chris Ford = Ryan Budde
  3. Damn straight I breathed a sigh of relief that Burnett will be out for 3 months. Thank God. I hate to see anyone hurt, but I'd love to see this enable a stay on the DL for the remainder of his 2 year contract. Can hardly wait for the spring training games to start. Want to make a trip to Bradenton to see my Bucco's play, and also go to Steinbrenner Field (almost called it Legends Field), and also over to Lakeland to see the Tigers. God, I love this time of year. So glad Baseball is back. Hines Ward was released by the Steelers today. Hate to see him go, but unfortunatly decisions like this have to be made every year. Gonna miss ya Hines. Planning on getting a PS Vita. I'd love to get the PS3, but most of the time, my son is watching the TV or playing a game on my tv, so it is easier to have a portable gaming system. Plus from what I have seen, the graphics are similar to the PS3. First game I want to get is MLB 12 the show. Just waiting for my taxes to purchase this. When I get it, I'm giving my son my old PSP go. I would like to offer my prayers to the families affected by these tornadoes the past couple of days. Also prayers to the families of those affected by the shooter in Ohio. God bless, and have a wonderful week.
  4. A.J. Burnett- stinks worse than poop that has been wrapped in poop.
  5. I know. I thought the Pirates had done a few decent moves this offseason, and then they do this boneheaded thing. I would rather see some kid from the minors get a shot than Burnett.
  6. Ok, liked your post, Y4L, except for the part about Burnett in the Pirate uniform. I still hate that move. I hope I am wrong, but I think the guy is a mental case and will not help the Bucco's out. I would rather have seen them resign Maholm then to trade for this whipped cream thrower who is a waste of roster space.
  7. Don, I used to live in Erie, and went to many of the Seawolves games. They usually do a Buck night on Monday night home games, where tickets are $1, and many of the food items are a $1. Also, I am not sure if they are still doing this, but if you go to Wendy's there and buy a meal and get a milk to drink, you get 2 free tickets to a Seawolves game. So, I would get the $3.99 Double Stack meal, and get a milk to drink. Then I would have a couple of tickets for free, and then just would pay for parking and whatever food I wanted to eat. Jerry Uht park is a beautiful park, and I think you would really enjoy it.
  8. Y4L, Merry Christmas to you and your family and to everyone else here. Glad that the commercialization of Christmas will be over, however I do enjoy the Christmas services at my church. I have not yet seen the trailer for the Hobbit, but I have heard that it is a true blow you away trailer. After hearing your words about the All Star Baseball series, it made me want to fire up my old PS2 with All Star Baseball 2k3. I'll have to do it after church this morning. It was a series that was underappreciated by many fans, but I always looked forward to it. The only sport that I think 2k ever nailed was football with NFL 2k5. I still have updated rosters for it, as Madden has gone downhill in my opinion. Well, it is the end of December, and so that means only a few months till spring training. Now that I live in Florida, I plan on going to a few spring training games. I live near Tampa, so I have quite a few different locales to go to to catch a game. I can hardly wait. I hope that my Pirates do good this year. Even if not, I will still root for them. Love the Pirates, always have, and can't ever see myself not rooting for them. Anyhow, I have rambled long enough. Merry Christmas everyone!
  9. OK, I saw a few games at Memorial Stadium where the Orioles used to play, and at Three Rivers Stadium. For the minor leagues, I have been to Pfitzner Stadium (home of the Potomac Nationals), Jerry Uht Park (home of the Seawolves), and McKetchnie Field (home of the Bradenton Marauders and Spring Training home of the Pittsburgh Pirates). My favorite stadium of all of these has to be Jerry Uht Park.
  10. Yep, and now I'm down here in Tampa, Florida, and can get over to see the Tampa Yankees, the Lakeland Flying Tigers, the Bradenton Marauders, the Clearwater Threshers among others. And being able to go to spring training is an awesome experience.
  11. exactly, scottybilly, that's why I go to more minor league games. You can actually go and enjoy a good night of baseball for a lot less than going to a MLB game. I would especially go the nights that were designated buck nights.
  12. Ok, cool. Missed this bug, sorry, Vlad. Will be glad to try the new version. Just wanted to let you know.
  13. ok, slight problem with the editor. I had edited players in the game, when I went back to look over the rosters in the game, all the free agents had disappeared. Had to start over with a new roster. Edited a player, and all free agents gone again. So, I am back to Ty's editor.
  14. Guys, First off I would like to say that I hope everyone here has a great Thanksgiving. I would have posted yesterday, but Sundays are usually one of my busiest days, between church and then from there to work all day. To the core group that started this site and have been loyal members, thank you all very much for your time, efforts, and contributions. I joined here back in 2006, and have had years of enjoyment from the files provided here for both MVP Baseball and the MLB series, but even more important than that is the friends that you can make here. Y4L, MarkB, etc, have been great friends here, and I am proud to call them such. Second, glad my Steelers came back yesterday and won against the Raiders (sorry Y4L). We needed that game, especially after losing to the Patriots the week before. I am already tired of the Christmas scene. I work at an Arby's here in Erie, Pa, and for three hours yesterday, our district manager had us putting up the tree and moving around the ornaments till they were exactly where the District manager wanted them, and then we are now treated to the pleasure of Christmas Carols all day. Now, I love Christmas, but am already tired of these things. I swear if I hear Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer or Frosty the Snowman again, I am going to snap. I already heard them about 10 times each yesterday.
  15. Guys, First and foremost I would like to say Goodbye to Sparky Anderson. He was a good person and a good manager, and he will be missed. Second, congrats to the Giants for winning the World Series, although I just could not get into it this year. Did not watch any of the games, just checked on the scores the next day. Waiting to see who the Pirates hire as manager. Not that I think the change will be major, as long as this ownership is still in place, but I miss baseball in the offseason. I still check mlbtraderumors.com every day to check up on what is going on. Trying to get things for Christmas for my 8 year old. He already said he wants a PSP (Playstation Portable). So I will probably end up getting that for him and some games. Anyhow, I hope everyone here has a great day! Jay16509
  16. Y4L, Am a huge Andy Griffith fan. Loved the series growing up, and still love it.
  17. Y4L, No problem, when you posed the question, it got me curious, so that is when I went to wikipedia to look it up. Jay
  18. Y4L, Just a quick note. Looked up about the Iron Pigs on wikipedia. Their name is a reference to Pig Iron, which is the intermediate product of smelting iron ore with coke, usually with limestone as a flux. Jay
  19. Ok, Just thought I would go into a bit about how a guy originally from Virginia became a Pirates fan. I grew up in the Washington DC area of Virginia in Prince William County. My Mom and Dad were originally from Punxsutawney, Pa., but my Dad had got a job with the government before I was born. Well, at that time, the closest major league team was the Baltimore Orioles, (this was way before the Nationals ever came into existance), so we hardly ever got to Baltimore to watch any games. Due to my Dad being a Pirates fan, we watched them whenever they used to come on TBS or WGN at the time. Then, lo and behold, in 1984, Prince William got a minor league team, the Prince William Pirates. That first year, the only players I remember were Joe Charbonneau (spelling might be wrong), and Felix Fermin. Then, in 1985, we had Barry Bonds, Bobby Bonilla, a great fielding 2nd Baseman in Jose Lind, and probably my favorite player there, Bip Roberts, who I hated to see the Pirates trade away. We had one more year of the Pirates in 1986, and then it became the Prince William Yankees. That is probably why I like the Yanks a bit as my AL team. Watching players like Hensley "Bam-Bam" Meulens, Kevin Maas, Bernie and Gerald Williams, was great. Anyhow, then for a little bit, due to my teenage stupidity, my parents and I were fighting a lot. Did not get to many games for a long time after high school. Then, in the mid 90's, my grandmother had gotten real sick. No one else from the family lived close, and I moved up to Punxsutawney to help her. Unfortunatly, there were not many jobs in the Punxsy area, so I moved to Erie, Pa. It was close enough to Punxsy that I could drive there and help my grandmother out, but yet there were decent jobs here. Erie at that time had a team in the New York-Penn league, the Erie Seawolves which was a Pirates organization at the time. It was great seeing the young kids here play ball, Jose Guillen, etc. Anyhow, then in 1998 or 1999, I can't remember which year, the Seawolves moved up to Double AA. We became an affiliate of the Anaheim Angels. Got to see Gary DiSarcina, Ramon Ortiz, etc, come through here. Neatest thing though, was when the Angels themselves came here for an exhibition game. Finally, in the year 2000, my grandmother passed away. Being a southern boy, I never liked the monstrous snow amounts Erie received, I moved to Florida. I was near the Tampa area, got to go over to a few (at the time Devil Rays) games, but the thing I liked most was going to spring training. However, Erie drew me back after 5 years, and now the Seawolves are a Tigers affiliate, but it does not matter. I love going to Jerry Uht park, and watching the kids play ball. Anyhow, I have probably rambled enough, just figured I would give you some insight as to my little bit of baseball background. If you guys are ever in the Erie, Pa. area in the summer, go to a game here if you can. I will probably be there. I promise you that it is a fun place to watch a game, and an interesting stadium to be at. Jay
  20. Y4L, How are you? I don't know if you have ever seen it, but if you Google AJ Burnett sucks, there is actually a forum for it. Pretty funny stuff. Jay.
  21. Great posts, guys. Y4L, thank you for you saying you admire my loyalty to the Pirates. I have stuck with my Pittsburgh teams for years. I support them in good times and bad. I supported my Buccos when they had Sammy Khalifa (possibly spelled wrong) at short, etc, so I remember the bad years of the 80's, then supported them as they had success in the early 90's with Spanky Lavalliere, Jose Lind, Jay Bell, Barry Bonds, etc. And I support them now over the long 17 years. I wish that we could pull off another miracle like we did in 86 or 87 when we traded Tony Pena to the Cards and received Mike Lavalliere, and Andy Van Slyke, etc. and where we traded a pitcher who I can't remember to the Yankees for Doug Drabek. Going to the Erie Seawolves game tomorrow night. I took my son Eric to Wendy's tonight for dinner, and they had a deal here where if you got milk for your drink in a value meal, you received two tickets to a Seawolves game. Plus tomorrow is buck night for concessions, so it will be a great night. Anyhow, Dan Haren was traded to the Angels. It should be an ok move for the Halo's, but still am not sure how good Haren will be in the AL. I hope you guys all have a good night.
  22. Guys, How are you today? Y4L, Unfortunatly being a Pirates fan, I have to agree with you. My team always seems to make these boneheaded decisions. I have always stood by my Buccos, but each year it gets a bit harder. I look for Maholm to be traded soon, and I don't think McCutchen will be traded this year, but I have a feeling as soon as he gets close to an arbitration year, watch out, he will be next to go. I would love to have an owner like Steinbrenner who, while sometimes he made some questionable decisions, would do whatever he thought would help his team win. It is raining today here in Erie, Pa. I hope that it ends this heat wave we have had here lately. Especially since our air conditioning at work has not been working for a month. When you work in a fast food restaurant, it can get very hot very quickly. American football will be starting soon. I am very happy about that. Not sure how my Steelers will do, but still have to root for them. I have rooted for my Pirates and Steelers since I was a little kid, and will still support them no matter what. Ben Roethlesberger... I think it is time we get rid of him. He has all the talent in the world, but he has no class off of the field. Time to get rid of this jerk, and get a new QB. Anyhow, I have rambled long enough, but I hope that everyone has a wonderful day. Jay
  23. Happy 4th of July guys, Well, it is the 4th, America's birthday, so Happy Birthday America. Time to celebrate with your family. Enjoy the day, for every day is special. I hope everyone here has a safe holiday. Jay
  24. Ty, Do not know if I am doing anything wrong. I am trying to edit one of the *.Ros files. I can edit the name in, and I select the option to save the player. Unfortunatly, when I went back to check one of the players I had previously entered data on (thought I had misspelled something), it showed that I had no edits on they player. The original fake name was still there. I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I have tried running the program in compatability mode, but no such luck. I also tried to edit the roster.iff file, and I was given the error message compressed roster.iff file is not supported. I do not know what is going on with this. I am sorry. If you could look into this, I would be grateful. Thanks, Jay
