I know the Mets got excited about the back to back to back HR's in the 9th last night. But, let's be real. They did this against mainly a A/AA pitcher who has 4 total innings in the majors this year, who was trying to salvage a game w/o having to bring the closer in. Man, that Mets broadcast team is STILL the best I've heard to date!

Once again, De Los Santos is allowed on a major league mound and once again he decides to make the game interesting. Alvarado decided to join in and do that too. Phils offense had to basically save the bullpen as Kennedy was not sharp either. And this is against a AAA.2 Nats team. Maybe putting on the Phillies unis as a closer somehow zaps your power/skills or something.

Please help me understand why a team would go after a solid righty closer from another team at the trade deadline only to have him watch from the bullpen a barely reliable lefty reliever pitcher to his 4th batter of the inning (after surrendering a double), a righty, who only needed to make some decent contact to get the man from 3rd home to win the game in the bottom of the 9th. Or maybe should I ask why was Joe Girardi watching this.
