That's funky. I just did an experiment and import a bitmap for the little speed rectangle in the bottom corner. I know it imported correctly and I know bigGUI imported that file and rebuilt correctly, but ended up seeing the old picture that was there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLk-3HPS12Q

We're trying to help isolate the problem, thus the suggestion of installing especially 2012. Instead, you're jumping around and telling us what you're going to do and not going to do and going to buy and all of this convolution. Let's stick to one thing at a time. We're a bunch of guys.... we deal with one thing at a time.

Try one of the earlier, but possibly more stable, TC mods like 08 or 12. Don't do anything additional to them and see if they play normally. Also, check this article: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-run-old-games-software-in-windows-8/

I don't even know why I offered. I can get to files, decompress, extract, import/export, blah, blah, blah. But, I can't get them to show up in the game when I can get past a crash. I need a complete tutorial. Working wit fsh files just **** me off. If EAGraph was a tangible thing.... I think I'd stomp on it like a printer out of Office Space!!

I may have to extend on my old Microsoft Vista expression: "Vista makes me pissed-a ...... and Windows 8 ain't that great!"
-
It's not a disturbance... this is what the support threads are for. Just don't post in a thread and then PM on top of it. If someone can help, they will.
-
Well, you didn't specify but I assume it's because of the portrait again. Therefore the fix would remain the same. This time just open up the attrib.dat file and do a "ctrl+F" to find Story. Go to slot 16 and find his four digit ID number and replace it with a 1. Don't try to apply the fix from last year's roster because he could be on a different team or other things may have changed.
-
Also, you're posting, PM'ing and putting in the shoutbox a lot of the same thing. Try to stick to the forums for support as more people will see it and if a solution is found it may help someone in the future.

Patch 3 is cumulative to patches 1 and 2.... they're not distinct. You only need patch 3. Locating the file involving game speed may be talking about something that is hard coded. You're now talking about how the game is programmed, I believe. Not sure that's gonna get solved. I know that when Dennisjames did MVP 14 last year, it was already patched. So if you tried 14, but patched over it for some reason, try it again without patching it yourself.
-
Copy your entire basic install folder and mod the copy. Keep the working basic original handy. Add patch 3 to the copy only. Try to run it. You have to add step by step to see what might be causing the problems. People are going to know necessarily what the deal is on your particular system.

I already said to select 1 or 2 processors. Other thing you can try as a last resort is in the properties window (shortcut tab), place a space and then -win in the target screen after the existing line, so that it looks something like this: "C:Program Files (x86)EA SPORTSMVP 14mvp2005.exe" -win
-
I'm watching a simmed game between the Phils and Nats and Giles is now throwing 98, so some variability is showing up.
-
Change your processors to 1 or 2 and see what happens. Start button > msconfig in the search window > boot tab > Advanced options... > tick Number of processors box* > select 1 or 2 > reboot PC. *if the box is not checked and it's showing a greyed out "1", it means that your PC is using the maximum processors that you have.... not just 1. Also... make sure your compatibility tab looks like this. Right click on your MVP shortcut icon and click on properties. Then this:
-
Is vertical sync turn "on" within the game itself? You are on Windows 8, correct? Do you have the compatibility options mentioned in other threads turned on? To what drive is the game installed? Also, for future installs,if you want to install official patches, 2 or 3 only are needed. You don't have to install them all.
-
Don't edit in game. Or if you do, make sure it's after you restart your system. You can always try to DL his cyber and re-install. Search the DL section.

It's not significant but it's there. Try it yourself. These are screenshots of Ken Giles (cpu pitching) pitching in Philly, then Colorado. Also, I've noticed the cpu pitches slightly faster than human.

These are Salazar's numbers from last year. He may have hit 100 at times, but not on the average. The way he is in the game is correct. If anything is a discrepancy, it's that he's missing a 2 seamer, which can be easily corrected. When you make rosters or announce you are going to do an update, you ask guys to give feedback, but they rarely do (save for the Orioles fanatic from last year who thought just about every one of them should have been rated in the 90's). Also, velocity of pitchers does seem affected by the climate in which they are pitching in this game as well as elevation (i.e., Colorado). As far as a cyberface, he does have one (756) so if the install is incorrect, that can be changed. (besides, he's not the darkest of complexions.... seems more like a light skinned Latino). Also, if you need further data, you can look at his fangraphs page: http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=5867&position=P#pitchtype If anything, it shows his velocity actually went down slightly from 2013. You can't do rosters by anecdotal observation, information, or "gut" feelings. If you want accuracy, then you have to use the stats available.
-
I think this is part of the game engine. For example, there's a good number of relievers who pitch from the stretch with no one on. There may be a few pitchers who do that here and there, but most are going to go into the wind up. It was probably a bug that could have been sorted out if MVP would have continued from year to year.
-
Sure thing man. I would do a fresh install of MVP05 w/ patch #3 and keep it around as a "base" copy in case you ever need to copy it to further mod it or need an original file.
-
I would try one, but need a tutorial .... and can't seem to find one any where.
-
You posted in an AL / NL Futures uniform thread about a Cardinals Saturday Home Alternate Jersey. See kids.... this is why you pay attention in school.

For guys who have multiple installs, make sure you are starting up the game from the correct shortcut icon. If you place the rosters in one install and are starting up another, of course it's not going to show the latest rosters. Also, when installing, do not simply overwrite the older 19 .dat files. Delete them and unzip the new ones to the same place. Then, there is no way the game cant show the newest rosters. Additionally, if you're expecting the new rosters to show up in an existing season/dynasty that you've already started with older rosters, they are not going to magically show up. When you start a season/dynasty it "locks in" with whatever roster set you used to start that season/dynasty because it saves to a totally different file.
-
This is not the support section. There's a button to the upper right for the support thread. Also, I've been the one to predominantly do rosters over the past three years and I never released it with a schedule, because a schedule is a totally different file and amount of work. Past roster makers didn't release a schedule with theirs either. Let it go!
-
I can see that..... just that at this stage is it worth the time and effort. Less and less guys play this game. And even less so say anything when the download a major mod, unless they have a problem with it.... then you never hear from them again.

Videos are fine but you watch it once and it's generally forgotten.
