I use a Logitech cordless Rumblepad I got about 6 years ago. It works great, especially if you go in and edit the config. Not quite as many buttons as some of the others, but has always worked great for me.

I just started using this datafile again, and I must say it really does feel more like being in the game. Being so zoomed in while batting really enhances my enjoyment, and the game results seem a lot more realistic. I'm not sure how much the game physics actually change between datafiles, but it really seems like the ball moves more perfectly in this file. The only qualm/question I have is with the size of the pitcher. My eyes don't work so well. I've been trying to research a way to combine two datafiles, but not to much avail. What I am wondering is how to combine the batting view from one datafile with the pitching view of another. Really I'd like to keep everything exactly the same as it is in your datafile, but change the ptching view zoom level to something more akin to the default MVP 2005 camera position, where the pitcher is huge on the screen. I have been using the 2/7/13 version of the datafile for the last little while, and have enjoyed that, but I'm just curious if there is a (relatively) simple way to zoom the pitching camera in a few notches. WIth that, I will have discovered the perfect datafile for me. Regardless, I'm really enjoying your work, again, and as usual. Thanks a lot! R

When it asks you whether to change the age of all players, say no. That should solve it.

Thanks for your work! The rosters look good so far, one thing to note is that Carlos Gonzalez is still a LF, there was talk before the season of moving him to CF but he never made the move. A small thing, but wanted to mention. Starting outfield ended up as: Cargo LF Charlie Blackmon CF Cuddyer RF, Dickerson is there but never really ended up as main starter. Either way, they're great so far! Red

Fantastic rosters! Of course, they're so accurate that the Rockies are truly terrible. Though the only one that can be blamed upon is the brilliant drunk GM continuing to run the team into the ground. But at least they removed 10000 seats from our stadium to install a beer deck, World Series here we come!

Random Thoughts On A Sunday Morning Updated To 11-24
RedbeardMtn replied to Yankee4Life's topic in Left Field (Off-Topic)
I saw the story about the guy suing the rescuers. The incident occurred in the midst of the beginning of the floods out here that resulted from many days of nonstop rain onto already saturated soil. We got about 2-3 years worth of rain over 3-4 days. The area he was in was totally destroyed by the flood. Up here about 20 miles west of there, we were cutoff from all major routes out of town for 2 months. Apparently the mans friends were rescued, but the recsuers didn't check his car and assumed the guy in the car was already dead and didn't bother to check. Then two other cars rear ended him and pushed him further inth the water. I objected to the suit upon hearing about it, but as I envisioned rescuers standing around not bothering to check a car submerged in rising water, I could begin to see his point. To a point. He's also suing the people who hit his car and pushed him further into the water, and didn't check on him either. I can imagine the furious anger I would feel if I were trapped inside of a car in flood waters and aware that recsuers were standing nearby, but to file a lawsuit is an interesting direction to go. Hell, it's been six months and theres still towns unreachable by roads anymore. Our local economy is gone. But nothing a good ol' lawsuit can't make worse. rd -
When you mention moving the schedule to different folders, are you talking about the schedule.big or the schedule updater? Schedule.big goes into your data folder, the schedule updater is the program I mentioned pacing on the desktop. Once I started running it from the desktop, it worked for me. Admin mode never affected anything for me, the only thing that worked for me was doing the clean install, etc. to a folder on the desktop, due to issues with Win7. If you want to have the schedule display any year but 2005, you will need to use schedule updater to get there. There is no way to alter the displayed year in a mod. If you are able to get the 2014 schedule to come up in game, but the year displays as 2005, you are still 90% there. The ages will be wrong, and the year will be wrong, but neither of these affects gameplay. I can't revisit everything I did to get it to work, as it was a big pain, but the biggest thing was running MVP from a folder on the desktop. Good luck!

This was discussed last spring, you can search for the thread. I ended up putting a shortcut to the updater on the desktop, so when I tab out of the game I can just click on the shortcut and run it. I cannot recall if this was one of the issues that was resolved by installing MVP to the desktop instead of the Programs folder, but that proved to be the solution to a number of issues I was having with MVP on Windows 7. It was quite a long thread last year, so you will probably find a solution in there somewhere.
-
Just curious, when you run MVP 13 do you click an icon on the desktop or go into the folder and run the mvp2005.exe file itself? In the past this has been a problem for me, I was never sure why, but when I would open the .exe file itself the game would run fine. Also, you are not using the installer (TIT) to install the mod, right? Looking at your initial post, you said it pops up with an error during or after extraction, what is the error? That right there is why it won't work, because if there is an error with extraction, then it won't function properly.
-
To change the year to 2013, you will also need the Schedule Updater program, which can be found in the MVP 1994 mod download. If you have problems getting it to work, find the thread from the spring about making it work.
-
If that is the case, I would download the mod again and start from scratch. If other mods work, then it has to be something with the MVP13 file you downloaded.

>>also i installed it to a folder called mvp 13 i wanted to keep the regular game So when you ran explodeme, did you select the MVP 13 folder that you created or the directory containing the clean install of MVP? You have to select a directory containing a full clean install of the game, not a new directory, since the explodeme modifies the game as installed, rather than installing the full game to your new folder. Couldn't figure out from your previous posts if you meant that you just created a directory called MVP13 to install the explodeme into. If you wish to keep the original game, copy the whole Clean Install of the game and rename it MVP 13. Then modify THAT version and you can leave the original on the desktop as well. That way, you can just copy that clean install for use with any of the other mods you may wish to use. It shouldn't matter that you don't have any patches installed. Also, basic punctuation would make your posts much easier to read. As far as running explodeme from the desktop, what I found success with was having the MVP clean install in a directory on the desktop, and then just running explodeme from the downloads folder and selecting the clean install on the desktop. It hasn't mattered where the explodeme is run from, as long as the MVP folder itself is on the desktop.

Is this the first time you've tried MVP on Windows 7? I had to install the game to a folder on the desktop to get it to work. Now I have a dozen different folders on the desktop for different mods, but they all work flawlessly that way. Hopefully that solves your problem.

It's interesting to see how progression works with players ages below 18, but I don't understand why you would want to play the game this way. The Schedule Updater/Year Changer tool does work, and if it is not working for you, something else needs to be corrected, most likely running MVP from the desktop. I tried to play the game and disregard the incorrect ages, but got tired of it and wanted it to be correct, so I figured out how to fix the problem. In going to the lengths in updating that we go to in order to keep the game current and realistic, it seems as though playing the game with player ages of 13 and 14, etc. is kinda silly. Thanks for you research, though.

Hi, Since the last post, I have begun installing MVP to a folder on the desktop instead of within the usual EA Sports file directory. That was the thing that helped me fix most of the problems I was having with MVP. You are correct in that you don't need to copy a whole directory for the Year Changer, as it is just an EXE file, but I tend to copy whole folders of components I add to games to keep straight what I have added. Currently I run the year changer from the desktop for whichever MVP mod I am playing and it works great.

Seems like the solution to nearly all issues with the rosters and Windows 7 are solved by installing MVP to the Desktop, so for anyone else wishing to solve these same problems, do this: Install MVP 05 to the desktop. Update to MVP 2012 Install rosters as instructed (unzip into directory, do not copy into directory) Go into the directory and click the exe file to run, unless you can get the icon to run it, which I cannot This also allowed my schedule updater to work again.

Thanks for the heads up, though with those new sliders I imagine my winning record may quickly become a thing of the past...... Update: Just played a couple games with the updated sliders, and didn't experience a much harder game as expected. Seemed even more balanced than usual. Interesting how the subtle changes affect gameplay. Dexter Fowler went 4-5, with a triple and THREE homers, including a walk-off in the bottom of the ninth against Sergio Romo, I only wish he would do things like that in real life! Keep up the magnificent work!

This is a fantastic roster set. Now that I've played tons of games, simmed through numerous seasons, and faced most of the big-name pitchers, most all of the players ratings I've examined seem perfect, a bang-up job as usual. Funny to see how the standings/stats go with numerous sim seasons, the Braves have been very low in the standings in many of them, and the Brewers and Angels have been at the top. Yu Darvish also has not been in the top 20 for strikeouts in more than a couple. Though with the Angels I suppose any simmed portion of a season would inevitably have them on top based on their ratings, just amazing how the real world Angels are woefully underachieving. Also, Iive been using your All-Star sliders you posted a couple months back, and they still seem dead on perfect. Thanks for every bit of your work!

Surly-I was having a similar problem, where when I tried to extract the files into the MVP Data directory, I was getting errors and couldn't get it to extract into that directory. Pretty sure it's due to the Win7 copy-protected folder nonsense. I tried copying them into the directory, which it sounds like that is what you did, but it will not work that way. So what I did was copy the whole MVP directory I was using to the desktop, then was able to extract into the data directory with no problem, and the rosters were then in game. Additionally, my Schedule Updater works again. So for anyone else who faces problems with the copy-protected folders/unable to extract into the MVP folder, just move the whole folder to the desktop and it (so far for me at least) will work. It's a pretty dumb fix, but from what I can tell most problems we all experience with installing mods and rosters are usually cured by a dumb fix, and have nothing to do with the mods themselves. Though really I am fairly unconcerned with having a few players with wrong faces, and am completely content with having accurate rosters even with a few wrong faces. I do not seek perfection, (though the modders achieve that on a highly regular basis) I only seek a playable MVP with accurate rosters. And if it already isn't said enough around here, I am hugely grateful for every minute of work that is invested by the modders in keeping this game going.
