  1. I feel pretty much the same way. Never see any trades or free agent signings that aren't instigated by me when I control all the teams (and proposing trades that have to be accepted by me as the opposing GM just isn't fun, and the draft is complicated in terms of wanting to "do right" by all the other teams). I think it's a matter of how you play. I think a lot of people want to play a season and do all the moves to reflect actual MLB throughout the year. I seem to be in the minority, but I like to start with "reality" and then take it years into the future based in my own little world. Note -- I've controlled just one team, and found that after 8 or so seasons, you feel kind of trapped and want to control another team for a new challenge. So I've tried controlling all 30, and didn't like it for the reasons I stated previously. So, this time around, I've decided to pick one team from each division that stays under my control, and let the computer handle the other 24. Seems like a happy medium. Note 2 -- I can't stop thinking that a PC game that came out in 1999 (FIFTEEN YEARS AGO!) offered options to change your controlled team, the schedule (interleague or no interleague, balanced schedule or non balanced schedule). Hight Heat 2000 was way ahead of it's time in features. Hard to belive that now we have this graphically beautiful game that's fun to play, and it's left out features that were standard in the "dark ages". Sure wish there were MLB 2K equivilents of the TY Wiggans utilities for MVP.
  2. Haha, that's awesome! I've never heard the ice cream sound either.
  3. That's interesting -- I've always thought that the MVP sound sounded a bit more like a metal bat. I think that the bat sound was much improved in 2K12 vs 2K11, though. Other audio notes -- has anyone else noticed that there's not a signle food vender in the crowd, helling "Hot Dogs!" or whatever. Just an observation. If I could have one thing reomoved, it would be the snarky sounding guy who says "seeya" on a deep fly ball.. When you hear that, you always know it's not going to be an HR
  4. Awesome!
  5. Just to clarify, I was wondering if it was possible to use the editor to add years to the coaching staff contracts after playind 6 seasons.
  6. Oh.. That's a bummer I love these rosters, but I like to play way more than 7 seasons in a franchise. Rats.
  7. Cool.. I am not controlling all 30 teams (I'll make a separate post about that just for everyone's opinion), but with guru reditior you can adjust this to go beyond 7 seasons, right?
  8. Hi guys - Trying to follow along, but a lot of this is going over my head. I started a franchise with BSU's second release of this roster. Is there a problem that will cause my franchise to fail at some point? I didn't do a draft or anything, I always like to start my franchise with "reality", and then let it go from there.
  9. Cool.. I don't have a problem with having to get a liscense.. I just might need some help from you smart guys when the time comes to make the changes
  10. Thanks BSU. I'm going to play as just a couple of teams, so I'll be getting reditor. Is the guru liscence necessary for this task?
  11. A couple of additional notes: I've now tested through 5 season and up to spring training of the 6th. All seems to be fine, no additional crashes provided the coaches are all signed. The schedule gets wonky in searson 4 -- the Astros do start playing a "normal" schedule, and interleague is dispersed throughout the season. To the best of my memory, it appears to be a repeat of the actual MLB 2013 schedule. The wonky parts are that all the days off are on Saturdays and Sundays, and there are some odd things where a 4 game series will alternate between home stadiums each game (I guess that would be a home home home and home series?). Not a big deal at all, but worthy to note from a testing standpoint. Equally interesting, for seasons 5 and 6, the Astros go back to an NL schedlue. I hope my testing has been helpful, let me know if there is any need to test through season 6 and beyond. Just a note for everyone like me who are not modders - just from spending 4-5 hours testing, I can say that I have no idea how tedius it must be to spend weeks and weeks working on this stuff. It's truly remarkable what the modders are able to accomplish.
  12. Could you make it more like 30? I'm going to play the hell out of this franchise! Did some additional testing, controlling all 30 teams. Made it through 2 seasons - but experienced a crash at the end of season 2. All of the off season tasks went smoothly up until the final one -- Finalize Pitching assignments. That's where it crashed. Edit -- Tried 2 more times, the third time I manually browseed through all the pitching assignments (didn't change any), and then hit "advance to next season". Went through fine.
  13. If that is not too much work for you, I would love that! I am ok with old staffs, and have found it's easier to play when only controlling one or just a handful of teams.
  14. Great roster. I am having a problem with the coach re-signing thing, though. I am only controlling one team. I manually signed all the coaches that had expriing contracts, but it still crashes when I try to advance. Ideas?
  15. I can't speak for Y4L, but I'm pretty sure that is NOT what he meant.. It's not what I meant, surely. I just didin't understand what it does. KC's explanation makes it a lot more clear to me.
  16. I managed to figure out that the minor league playoffs were completed, except for some reason the top two brackets in the California League playoffs had no teams in them. So, I think that is the problem. Just not sure what to do about it
  17. Hi folks.. I've been happily playing along with my franchise since BSU's rosters came out last fall. I've made it to the last day of my third season, and something is causing me to crash while trying to get through the final day. My franchise controls all 30 teams, and I've gone through them all to make sure there aren't any incomplete rotations, lineups, or too many players on a given roster. One thing that I have noticed is that a few minor league affiliates don't show a "minimum" of 0 and a "maximum" of 40 for the usual post-september 1st rosters.. Not sure what is wrong or how to get through this last day and into the post season. Any ideas? Thanks.....
  18. Hey Duke, will you let us all know how subsequent fanchise seasons go? I have been sticking with BSU's roster/schedule that he released last fall for my franchise, I am into my third season, and all is well.
  19. Does anyone else think that Yankee4Life might be showing a bit of interest in 2k12? Come to the dark side, Y4L!
  20. I would LOVE for there to be a program for 2K12 that works like MVP Sav Reader.. GREAT program, enhanced franchise play infinitely for us stat geeks.
  21. I'll give it a workout this weekend and let everyone know what I find.
  22. Hey KC, thanks for putting this together. Question -- is this more for use as a "one and done" type roster, to just play the 2014 season, or does it have the BSU schedule fix to play multiple seasons into a franchise? Trying to determine whether to continue my current franchise or start anew.
  23. BSU can probably comment the most intelligently on this topic when he is around.. The key was switching back to the "traditional" schedule after the initial season.. Otherwise, there were some teams playing 180 games, some playing 150, etc. He made it work with the 2013 schedule.
  24. Hey guys - Thanks for all the things you are doing! I urge everyone to read this post: http://www.mvpmods.com/index.php?showtopic=55943 , regarding how to handle subsequent seasons in a franchise. Particularly post number 16.
