Mlb 2K12 Startup Screen Freezing (Including A Workaround)
Hollywood70 replied to wudl83's topic in Support
I am 2/3 of the way through 2014 in my franchise.. I don't think it matters at which point you are from a franchise standpoint. As for knowing for sure what the issue is, it's hard to say. 2K doesn't ever seem to say anything "official". -
Mlb 2K12 Startup Screen Freezing (Including A Workaround)

No go on disabling internet access. I also tried deleting the living season file, but it just regenerates prior to the freeze. Re: MS Project -- there is a calendaring feature that runs in the background. So I have to disable that, then change the clock, and do the reverse after I play. Athough my coworkers were amused (not really) when I moved all their meetings for next week up by one day Of all the games I could become addicted to, why this one? Of course I will continue to play, like any addict needing a fix.. And the possibilities of Vlad's forthcoming editor has my interesed piqued -
Mlb 2K12 Startup Screen Freezing (Including A Workaround)

I haven't figured out a way to shut off the living rosters as of yet. As far as the date thing, yes it is only a few clicks and not exactly strenuous. But, many people need to use their PC's for other things. I have to use mine for work, and changing the calendar seriously messes with programs like, say, MS Project. I am wondering if disabling internet access will have any bearing on "living season" being loaded.. Will try that later. -

Same problem here. Was glad to figure it out, but wondering if my PC calendar is going to have to be permanently wrong for as long as I want to play this game. -
I just played my first series in KC since this update.. Absolutely stunning! Particularly for night games.

It's a modicum of information, and it's not great news.. But it's at least good news. https://www.2ksports.com/forums/showthread.php?t=320572

I just read about the idea of controlling all 30 teams in a franchise in another thread. As some of you may know, I have long pined for the ability to change my user controlled franchise after several seasons controlling one. Once I succeed with my original, I like to switch over to a terrible team and work through building them into a winner; but I want to do it within the "universe" of my current franchise rather than starting over with the year 2012. Is controlling all 30 teams the answer? Could I have the "other 29" completely automated and just actively control the one I want to start with? Last question, if the answers to the above questions is yes, would this spoil the integrity of trading, since I'd basically be trading with myself.. Or could that be automated for the other 29 teams as well? I'd hate to have to start the franchise over (been hoping for a mod that allows for changing teams) since I am now into 2013. But, if that's the answer to how I want to play, then I might have to. Any thoughts are appreciated!

Just discovered that if you have an injured player who returns from the DL after the minor league season has ended, they get assigned to a "rehab" assignment that amounts to purgatory, since they can't play their allotted amount of rehab games. Irritating. I tried to fix it using Ty's editor, but no luck.

If I recall properly, as soon as you pay, it generates a code, and prompts you to download an installer program. When you run that program you enter the code, and it downloads what is the equivalent of a zip or rar file, and within that is a setup option to install. That may not be exactly how it works, I've only done it once and it was back in March when 2K12 came out -- but it was intuitive and I had no problem downloading and installing.

I received an email today from amazon.com advertising MLB and NBA 2K12 downloads "this weekend only" for 9.99 each. Definitely worth 10 bucks for anyone who has been on the fence about buying.

http://kotaku.com/5912483/major-league-baseball-2ks-cancellation-is-confirmed I guess this isn't really a surprise. But it sure sucks that it has to happen at this particular time. With the realignment coming next year in MLB, 2K12 isn't going to have much of a shelf life in 2013 and beyond Personally, I'd pay them 10 bucks for a patch to 2K12 that updated the league alignment and schedule for 2013. I'm sure that is wishful thinking.

Not to mention that after you get through the first season of a franchise, the start times no longer make sense (all Sunday games are night games, for instance).

Sorry, I don't mean to be argumentative. But my point was that this game can be tuned so that anyone can be that good. Personally, I like the challenge of building a great team under tough circumstances, but everyone plays their own way. Glad you're enjoying the game.

24-1? Your sliders might be off a bit.

20 bucks on it's way!

Maybe he'll grow it back in Toledo.

Oh crap. Schlereth shaved his beard. Worse yet, he still sucks.

What's holding up the addition of the donation button?? :)

I don't totally understand this.. Why is the season length 52 games, and all of the playoffs are best of 3? Unrelated note: Prince Fielder is playing 1B for the Tigers and batting fourth. Miguel Cabrera is playing 3B and batting third. DH is rotating. This year it's been everyone from Rayburn to Inge to Dirks and probably some others I can't think of (brings back memories of Sparky).

More likely that they want to sell more merchandise.

Awesome! I started a franchise, and the first time I picked "default" rosters, which didn't seem right. So I started over and picked "Current", and it looks a lot more like reality. Did I do right?

It kinda feels like Christmas Eve :)

Can't agree more... Tiger Stadium, Comisky Park, Baltimore Memorial Stadium, Old Cleveland "Mistake by the lake", even the Metrodome and all the 1970's "cookie cutter" stadiums have their nostalgic purpose. Plus tons of others that didn't survive to see the 70s (Polo Grounds, for instance), although I suspect they are way out of 2K's demographic, which seems to be college kids or post-college kids living in their parents basement. I recently saw a thread about pink bats for Mother's Day. I doubt many fans over the age of 30 care about that.

I just thought of another gameplay "con".. Sometimes, advancing a runner just plain doesn't work.. Example, you have a guy on second, heading for third on a hit, and even though you point him toward Home, and the icon changes to "H", he stops. Then, you panic and try to reverse it so he stays on third, but then he darts towards home before doing an about face and diving back into third, often being tagged out on a play that should have been an easy run. Happens sporadically, but irrititating.
