It certainly was for me. This was the first time I saw the Yankees win a World Series and I will never forget that thrill. I feel the same way. It was no easy road for the Yankees that year as they had to battle themselves, the Orioles, the Red Sox and a good Kansas City team to get to the series and the Dodgers had to get by a very talented Phillies team. What a great year. What??? I thought everyone had this installed. By the way, where have you been? I hope you have been doing well. Enjoy this mod. Jim and Dennis did a great job. I played a game late last night and it's all that you would expect it to be!

Oh my God, another total classics season for Mvp!! And the 1977 season too! What a wonderful year if you were a Yankee fan! Thank you so much Jim and Dennis! Pardon me, I'm going to...

Greg Maddux At times, Greg Maddux’s mastery of the strike zone truly seemed effortless. Fastball down-and-away – on the black – for strike one. Fastball in on the hands for strike two. Change-up away for strike three. Pitch after pitch, strike after strike for the average-looking right-hander who elevated “control” to a new definition in the 1990s. Now, the winningest pitcher of his generation is heading to Cooperstown. Gregory Alan Maddux was born April 14, 1966 in San Angelo, Texas. He spent some of his childhood in Madrid, Spain – following his father on his Air Force assignment – before graduating from high school in Las Vegas. Maddux’s father, Dave, taught Greg and his older brother Mike the fundamentals of the game – and Mike was drafted by the Phillies in the second round of the 1982 MLB Draft. Two years later, Greg – who had not yet reached his full size of 6-foot, 170 pounds – was taken in the second round by the Cubs. After winning a combined 27 minor league games during the 1985-86 seasons while demonstrating a pitching intelligence beyond his years, Maddux struggled as a 21-year-old in 1987 with the Cubs – going 6-14 with a 5.61 earned-run average. It would be more almost two decades later before Maddux posted another losing record. In 1988, Maddux improved to 18-8 – the first of his 17 straight seasons with at least 15 victories, the longest streak by any pitcher in big league history. Maddux also earned the first of his eight All-Star Game selections that year. In 1989, Maddux went 19-12 with a 2.95 ERA, leading the Cubs to the National League East title while finishing third in the NL Cy Young Award vote. He won 15 games in 1990 along with the first of his record 18 Gold Glove Awards, and led the NL in innings pitched in 1991 with 263 – the first of five straight seasons in which he led the league in that category. Then in 1992, Maddux went 20-11 with a 2.18 ERA, earning the first of four straight Cy Young Awards – a record that went unchallenged until Randy Johnson tied it from 1999-2002. After the season, Maddux became a free agent and eventually agreed with the Braves on a 5-year, $28 million contract. It would become one of the best bargains in big league history. Maddux went 20-10 in 1993, leading the Braves to their third straight NL West title and topping theleague with a 2.36 ERA – the first of four ERA crowns he would capture. During the next two strike-shortened seasons, Maddux was practically untouchable – going 16-6 with a 1.56 ERA in 1994 and then following that with a 19-2 mark in 1995 that included a 1.63 ERA. In 1995, Maddux and the Braves won the World Series – topping Cleveland in six games. Maddux was 3-1 in the postseason. During his four-year stretch of Cy Young Award dominance, Maddux was 75-29 with a 1.98 ERA. And his control improved almost every year. In 889.1 innings from 1994-1997, Maddux walked just 102 batters – including 23 intentional passes. Maddux used every edge he had and continued to dominate the batters as the Braves continued to amass NL West titles. From 1993-2003 – his 11 years in a Braves uniform – Atlanta won the division crown in each completed season, advancing to the World Series three times and winning the 1995 Fall Classic. In that time, Maddux went 198-88 with a 2.63 ERA. Maddux returned to the Cubs via free agency in 2004, winning his 300th game in 2004 and leading the NL in starts in 2005 with 35 at the age of 39. In 23 big league seasons, Maddux spent only 15 days on the disabled list – a two-week stint in 2002 with an inflamed nerve in his lower back. He retired following the 2008 season with 355 wins and only 227 losses – a .610 winning percentage. His victory total is the eighth-best of all-time, and his innings pitched total of 5,008.1 ranks 13th.

Bill Wambsganss William Adolph Wambsganss was a Cleveland native--born in the area that has since 1930 been known as the city of Garfield Heights--and lived to be 91 years old (March 19, 1894--December 8, 1985). He was right-handed with a playing height of 5-feet-11 and a listed weight of 175 pounds. During his years in baseball, he was more typically known as Wamby. Bill spent his first year in the pros, 1913, with the Cedar Rapid Rabbits of the class D Central Association, playing shortstop and batting .244 in 67 games. His second year with Cedar Rapids, he played in 84 games and started hitting distinctly better, at .317. He was almost part of baseball history on July 10 as Rabbits pitcher Lefty Mellinger threw a no-hitter against Burlington, marred only by an error when his first baseman unaccountably dropped a "perfect throw." The man who reached base was promptly retired on a double play. As the season progressed, the Cleveland Naps wanted the hometown hitter. Owner Charles Somers bought him from Cedar Rapids on August 1, for a reported $1,250. Manager Joe Birmingham first put him in a game against the Washington Nationals on August 4, replacing Ray Chapman at shortstop late in the game. Batting in the bottom of the ninth, after Cleveland had come within two runs of Washington, Wambsganss grounded a ball to Wally Smith, the second baseman, and a run scored when Smith misplayed it. With two outs and the bases loaded, Joe Wood smoked one to second and this time Smith held onto the liner. Wamby's first start, on August 10, 1914, resulted in an 0-for-2 at the plate. He picked up his first hit, a single, on the 11th. His first big game was on August 16; he went 2-for-5 with a double, and helped execute two double plays. On September 30, he tripled in the bottom of the 12th (he had doubled earlier) and scored the winning run on Nemo Leibold's single, beating the White Sox, 6-5. That first year, as an understudy for Chapman, he appeared in 43 games, batting .217 and driving in 12 runs. He also filled in during four games for his childhood hero, Nap Lajoie, the baseball legend after whom the team was known. The Naps finished in last place, and even right fielder Shoeless Joe Jackson had a down year -- hitting only .338. Bill had one of the best days of his career on May 18, 1919, going 4-for-4 against the visiting New York Yankees, three singles and an inside-the-park home run off George Mogridge which escaped the clutches of Ping Bodie and brought in the final three runs of the 4-3 win. It was his first career home run. He added a second homer on August 15, off Washington's Jim Shaw, but in a losing cause. May was a good month overall, with Wamby batting .407 as of May 24, well ahead of Joe Jackson's .386, but the season ended with Wamby hitting .278 (and driving in a career-high 60 runs) while Jackson hit .351 for the champion White Sox--a year later to become known as the Black Sox. Once again Wambsganss led the league in errors, with 30. One of them he was glad to take. It came at the Polo Grounds in the seventh inning of Ray Caldwell's September 10 no-hitter against the Yankees. The New York Times account called it an "easy roller," in fact "such an easy affair that Wamby should have got it by one hand with his eyes closed. He ran in on the ball and then let it trickle through his mitts." That 1920 season was the year in which "Wambsganss" eventually became, if not a household name, well-known in the world of people who've learned unusual facts about baseball. It's not always players themselves who know the game. In 1949, Philadelphia A's pitcher Joe Coleman was speaking at a community event in Northampton, Massachusetts, and was asked whether or not anyone had ever made an unassisted triple play in the World Series. He had to admit he didn't know--but Grace Coolidge, the former First Lady of the United States, quietly replied, "Yes, Bill Wambsganss, Cleveland infielder, in the 1920 Series." Of course, to get to the World Series the Indians first had to win the pennant. It was a three-team battle, with Cleveland on top, two games above the White Sox and three ahead of the New York Yankees, still pennant-less in the history of the franchise. For Cleveland, it was their first pennant. The Indians clinched it with a 10-1 win on October 2, a quickly-played (1:28) game that saw Wambsganss go 3-for-6 with two runs scored. He helped execute two double plays and might have had another hit except that he was struck by his own batted ball in the fourth and therefore ruled out. The 1920 World Series Cleveland played the Brooklyn Robins, who had taken the National League with ease. Among other things, the Series would pit Brooklyn third baseman Jimmy Johnston against his two-year-older brother, Cleveland first baseman Doc Johnston. Jimmy hit .291 during the regular season; Doc hit .292. Neither played any significant role on offense in the Series. Game Five, on October 10, was a day for headlines. The public awoke that Sunday morning to read that Brooklyn pitcher Rube Marquard had been arrested, charged with scalping tickets before Saturday's game. Turned loose so he could make the game (the Cleveland chief of police said it would "hardly be sportsmanlike" to hold him), Rube threw three innings in relief, giving up two hits but no runs. His manager, Wilbert Robinson, "was so provoked when he heard of Marquard's arrest he is alleged to have said he would not give five cents to get him out of hock." After Marquard was found guilty on October 12, Brooklyn severed all ties with him. So did his wife, who divorced him within the week. In Game Five, Wambsganss singled in the first and was the second of four runners to score on right-fielder Elmer Smith's grand slam. One might have expected Smith to grab all the headlines; it was the first grand slam in World Series history. Then pitcher Jim Bagby homered, a three-run shot in the fourth inning, perhaps pushing for his own headline--it was the first home run by a pitcher in a World Series. The score was 7-0 Tribe after four innings, and things were looking good for Bagby, who'd lost Game Two but was 31-12 (2.89 ERA) in the 1920 regular season. Bagby got himself in trouble in the top of the fifth, though, allowing back-to-back singles to second baseman Pete Kilduff and the catcher, Otto Miller. Kilduff held up at second. Two on, nobody out, and Mitchell was up--Clarence Mitchell, the left-handed reliever who had taken over for Brooklyn starter Burleigh Grimes. The Indians had two men warming up in the bullpen. Mitchell was a decent hitter and Robinson had used him occasionally to pinch-hit. Wambsganss deliberately played back on the outfield grass, as Mitch often hit to right and Wamby wanted to keep the ball from getting through and perhaps scoring a run. When the count reached 1-1, the hit-and-run play was put on, and it had everything to do with the execution of the play that followed. Mitchell hit the ball hard, and it was heading toward center field several feet to the right of second base. Wambsganss had broken toward the bag, or he wouldn't have been able to make the play. Make it he barely did, catching the ball in mid-flight with his outstretched glove. Kilduff was almost to third base and Miller rapidly approaching second. Momentum carried Wamby in the direction he was going and two or three strides took him to second base. The minute his foot hit the bag, Kilduff was out. And Miller's own momentum brought him right to Wamby. He pulled up short and didn't have time to turn back and try to retreat. He was just five feet away. "He stopped running and stood there, so I just tagged him. That was all there was to it," Wambsganss explained. "Just before I tagged him, he said, 'Where'd you get that ball?' I said, 'Well, I've got it and you're out number three.'" It was all over in a flash. Three outs. There was dead silence in the park as everyone took in what they'd witnessed, and then an explosion of celebration. On the day that Wamby pulled off the triple play, crowds gathered in front of newspaper offices around the country. These were the days before radio broadcasts of games, and the notion of television was pure science fiction. Play-by-play results were telegraphed to newspapers and conveyed to those gathered in front of the newspaper offices, sometimes by way of elaborate scoreboards erected for the occasion. In Fort Wayne, the Journal Gazette had set up a magnetic board that was being operated by sports editor Bob Reed. He knew that Rev. Wambsganss was in the crowd of several thousand people on the streets out front. When Reed received word of Wamby's triple play, he said, he was stunned, then nervous. "Finally, I grabbed a megaphone and shouted the news. The roar which followed was the loudest I had ever heard. What a thrill that was--home town boy making a play like that!" Wambsganss played in the major leagues until 1926 and then played another seven more seasons of minor-league ball. Wambsganss was active in senior citizen activities right up until November 1985, when he was hospitalized for heart failure, of which he died on December 8. The record books show him as playing in 1,491 major-league games with a .259 batting average. He had a .958 fielding percentage, except in World Series play, when it was 1.000.

KC I want you to know that I read every word of what lead to your dismissal at "Lorem Ipsum" and it was clear to me that no matter what you did or tried to do to help remedy the server failure at that company and the steps you tried to make to insure it did not happen again. By reading your explanation of these events it was obvious to me that the bosses at your ex-company did not care to listen to anything that you had to say about the problem at hand no matter how many times you tried to address it. I don't blame you for being bitter over this. The only thing you should take away from all of this is that you know your stuff and you are someone that has a talent that people need. I am pulling for you to find a better job that will give you the opportunity to do your job and listen to you at the same time and I can not wait until the day that you come back in this website and announce that you got a new job. Good luck to you. -

Updated to 11-30 ...I did not go Black Friday shopping last week mainly because I have a brain and every so often I have been known to use it and that's why I avoided all the pushing and shoving that people were doing to buy the low priced tablets Walmart was dangling in front of people like carrots in front of a mule. But I did go to the supermarket the very next day and that is as close as I got to holiday shopping over the weekend. Even my wife, who never met a sale that she was not a part of avoids this day too. She probably doesn't like dealing with professionals like herself. ...'Tis the Season, Dept: Since this is the first season of open-to-all-adults marijuana sales in the state of Colorado, pot shops there are offering similar deals to their customers that are used by traditional retailers to attract holiday shoppers. For example, one enterprising business in Denver is selling an ounce of marijuana for fifty dollars (about a fifth of the normal cost) to their first sixteen customers that were in line on Black Friday and over the weekend. There's other things like pot-and-pumpkin pies which must have been a hit in some homes last Thursday and special holiday-spiced teas that were packed with a punch. Can you imagine if they were allowed to accept orders from all over the country? Amazon wouldn't be able to keep up. ...The Red Sox made their fans very happy over the Thanksgiving week last week by signing Hanley Ramirez from the Dodgers and Pablo Sandoval from the World Champion Giants for more money and more years than they are actually worth. But that's ok. They now play in Boston and that makes everything fine. Sandoval only hit .279 for the season but had a terrific post season and that could have been a factor in how much money the Red Sox threw at him. Sandoval said that he signed with Boston because he "needed a new challenge." I'm sorry but I am having a hard time understanding this. The guy's been on three World Series winning teams. Isn't that the biggest challenge of all, trying to defend your title? Apparently not for this guy. He'd rather go and play his home games 3,000 miles away for a team that finished in last place. Between him and Ortiz their won't be any scraps for a mouse to grab after they get done with the post-game meals. And Ramirez? He plays when he wants to play and is injury prone. He'll end up being good friends with Jose Reyes if he isn't already. Every time I think of Ramirez I remember four years back when he jogged after a ball while playing for the Marlins. Let him try something like that in Fenway Park. They'll boo him straight back to Los Angeles. ...The problem I had with this is not that the Red Sox signed these guys but that no one complained when they did it. This team spends in crazy amounts like the Yankees do but no one ever gets mad at Boston when they do it. When the Yankees spend this amount of money ($183 million on two players) everyone gets mad and points fingers at them saying that they are ruining the game. Smart Yankee fans know that the free agents their team signed did not ruin the game. It just ruined their team. I hope Boston makes that same mistake. ...Call it a pet peeve of mine but I can not stand it when a read about some ballplayer telling the media that he is still deciding on what team he is going to be playing for next like it's a decision that we are dying to know and before we find out we won't be able to get through the day properly. Pablo Sandoval did this recently when he let everyone know that he needed "just a few more days" to come to his decision. I was so anxious that I couldn't leave my house because I just had to be there when the MLB Network broke the news. Now Andrew Miller is doing the same thing. Looks like I won't be going out again any time soon. ...The search for a new shortstop for the Yankees is thankfully not going to be found in Philadelphia. They contacted the Phillies about Jimmy Rollins and offered them a utility player for him but they said no. The Phils must still see Rollins as he was in his prime a few years back because they wanted much more than what the Yankees offered and thank God for that. Rollins would have made the perfect Yankee. At thirty-six he is just the right age for them. Combined the fact that he is overrated and his best years are behind him it is no wonder the Yankees tried to get him. ...Ray Rice won his appeal from his lifetime suspension by the NFL for violating its domestic violence policy, a policy that was most likely written up on the fly by the league during the past few months. He is now free to sign with any team that wants him and even though there are no takers yet (he only won this appeal on Friday) that doesn't mean there won't be. Just wait for the first team that needs help in their backfield because of an injury. They'll sign him and they'll forget all about what caused him to be suspended in the first place and if he can help them get into the playoffs, even better. ...Every few years when Charles Manson's name came up in the news it was when he getting set to go to a parole hearing to determine his possible releaser from his lifetime sentence in prison and each time this happens he is denied parole and he goes back into obscurity until his next parole hearing when the same thing happens again. Not this time. Manson, now eighty, has been issued a marriage license in California so he can marry a twenty-six-year-old woman who left her home in Missouri nine years ago because she says she loves him and wants to exonerate him. For those of you who are not that familiar with the name, Manson is responsible for one of the most senseless and brutal murders that took place over the span of two nights in Los Angeles in August of 1969. He had a cult following - in fact he had an actual cult and they still are behind bars to this day along with him. I was too young to remember when this all took place but I saw photos of the people responsible and the girl that he is marrying almost looks like the girls that were with Manson all those years ago. Tall, thin, long-haired brunette, a vacant look in her eyes that gives her that empty-headed look. And considering what she's doing this observation is probably not far off the mark. Just the type of woman to devote herself to Manson. But because he is a life prisoner with no parole date, Manson is not entitled to any conjugal visits once he and his blushing bride tie the knot. This is probably a huge relief to the girl's family back in Missouri. ...This should be an example to every guy who wants to get married but thinks that it will never happen for him. If Manson, who has been behind bars for over forty-four years can find someone to want to marry him, then it should be a piece of cake for everyone else that wants it. ...Postal inspectors arrested a twenty-year veteran mail carrier for selling drugs out of his mail truck and out of his home. The carrier is now facing felony charges after $17,000 worth of meth was seized when they raided his house. Customers on his route stated later that every so often the carrier would deliver a letter or a package to someone else's house by mistake but he never messed up once on the meth ones. ...Thanks for Nothing, Dept: Last Wednesday I went to Verizon to buy out my service contract because what I am paying each month for my phone is a lot more than the use I get out of it. Without any exaggeration I use my phone less than ten minutes a month which is something most people find unbelievable. But it's true. I'm paying forty-three dollars and some change a month to them and my contract does not expire until September of 2016. Almost two seasons of baseball will have to be completed until my time was up and had I stayed with them with this current plan I would have spent over nine hundred dollars on something I get no use out of. I told them I wanted to stay with them but I wanted a pay-as-you-go plan that they offer that is similar to what a TracPhone does but they would not let me switch over to that. So, after saying goodbye to three hundred and thirty dollars (that hurt) I am no longer a member of Verizon. It was a huge hit on the wallet but I'll be saving over six hundred dollars in the long run. That will be the last time I ever have a phone that is under contract with a major carrier. ...I have to wonder if Billy Beane out in Oakland knows what he is doing when he traded away Josh Donaldson because getting Brett Lawrie in return is no prize. But this guy has surprised a lot of people in the past with his moves so that has me thinking he knows something we don't. ...I think I have seen the catch by Odell Beckham, Jr of the Giants in just about every angle that they had and I still can not believe how he managed to catch the ball and then hold on to it. No doubt about it, it was a fantastic catch but then when people started calling this the greatest catch in NFL history that is when they lost me. As good as it was I wouldn't call it that because I was spoiled by watching Fred Biletnikoff make these kind of catches for Oakland for a long time. That guy had the best hands I ever saw. ...There's a story about Biletnikoff that I would love to tell him if I ever had the honor to meet him. Because of Fred Biletnikoff my mother almost killed me. He used to use something called Stickum when he played. If he was playing today he wouldn't be able to use it because the NFL banned the use of it in 1981 after another Raider, Lester Hayes, used the sticky stuff a little too much on his arms, hands and uniform. Anyway, Biletnikoff was one of my favorite Raiders and we used to play football at a nearby school almost every day in the fall and winter and we all wore the gear from our favorite teams. One day I got the idea of using stickum the next time we played but the problem was I didn't know where to buy the stuff. I even called up a sporting goods store and asked the guy if he had any stickum for sale but he was no help since he didn't know what the hell I was talking about. I called a few more stores and I got no where with them too. After a couple of days I was just about to give up and it was my sister who indirectly helped me out. She had to go to the store to get some school supplies and I went with her since I had nothing else to do. While she was getting the pens and notebooks she needed I walked down the aisle just looking around and then I saw it. Puzzle Glue!! This is the stuff for when you are putting a puzzle together and you decide you want to keep it in its completed form instead of taking it all apart again. That's what puzzle glue is used for but I had other plans for it. I opened one up and put a little dab of it on my fingers and as soon as I did that I said to myself that I found my stickum. I bought three jars of the stuff and couldn't wait until our next game. Well, I showed up for our game with my puzzle jars and they wouldn't let me play until I went home and got a towel so the football could be wiped off. Fair enough. After I came back with one of our best bath towels I proceeded to put my puzzle glue on me. Pardon me - stickum. And I put it all over me Biletnikoff style. Legs, arms and hands. I loaded it up. Every time I got tackled or I tackled someone they'd get mad because I got the stuff on them. At one point the football stuck to my arm. The towel was getting ruined. I was a Raider! Then they stopped the game and wouldn't let me play anymore if I continued to use the glue. So after watching the rest of the game from the side I went home and before I walked in my house my mother was walking out the door at the same time. She took one look at me and wouldn't let me in the house. She finally relented to let me go in the cellar because my pants and shirt were covered in glue and the towel was dead on arrival. It took her three tries in the wash to get all the glue out but she did. Even the towel got a second life. And the last thing she did was take my remaining jars of puzzle glue and throw them in the trash. The woman obviously did not know her football. I never used puzzle glue again after that game and that made the kids I played football with very happy along with my mother who for years after this took place would always ask me if I had any of "that stuff" with me after I came home. -
There is no grey area. When you manipulate the EXE file it is a crack. I remember a discussion we had here years ago when someone wanted the Mvp EXE file manipulated for something and Kraw said that the software companies look down on it and it is a form of piracy. I never forgot that. The reason why those two files were here so long is my unfamiliarity with the 2k mods. Since I don't have the game I didn't know about this. Had this been an Mvp mod it would not have lasted here this long.
-
I never knew this. Both of these mods are now unapproved.
-
Me too. Those are some good uniform requests.
-
I know you've done it in the past and I never said anything. I didn't want you to think I was coming down on you and you haven't done this in a while so I decided to wait until it happened again. You're right, some people have requested donations for their mods in the past but that is not the way it is done around here and that is something that has not changed since the first day this site opened in 2004. The first guy that did this was a guy who comes back here every so often and posts progress on a mod he is making and then disappears for six months at at time. The guy has never uploaded one mod yet but he always fools new people into thinking that he will. He was the first one who requested donations to make mods many years ago and that was the beginning as to why this is discouraged. Mods are made here for free and requests should always be just that alone - requests.
-
You can play multiple seasons with any mod we have here on the site. Look around a little and have fun.
-
Try Mvp because there are more season mods and classic season mods made for it.
-
Just request your uniforms Padres67. We don't do the pay for service thing around here.
-
Heck no. I don't blame you one bit.
-
Sorry but we do not discuss any key generators or anything like that in here. Good luck in getting this problem solved. And I agree, there should be some information somewhere in the registry that has your serial number. No warez, cracks, or links to such content. Help, requests or posts that discuss circumvention of copyright measures are forbidden. This includes linking to illegally obtained software, movies & music files - posting about it, and suggesting obtaining it.

Updated to 11-23 ...The funniest thing about the Jason Heyward - Shelby Miller trade came out of the mouth of John Hart, the Braves' new general manager when he said with a straight face that it was very difficult to trade Jason Heyward. Why? What the hell has he done since he started out red-hot in his rookie year? Saying that about Heyward in front of the press must have been harder for Hart to do than actually trade him. Talk about taking out the garbage. ...Anyone notice that Gmail has started putting ads in your social tab now? Unlike Yahoo mail at least you can delete them. ...Joe Maddon said on a radio show in Chicago that he called former Cubs manager Rick Renteria and left him a message but he has not heard back from him. I wonder why? ...Remember about a year ago that big uproar about Kmart being open at 6 am on Thanksgiving and other retailers hurrying to follow their lead? Employees were furious and there was even talk of them all going on strike. You can see for yourself how well that turned out because another Thanksgiving is only days away and the stores are opening up as early as they did last year and I guarantee you if you walk in to one of them on Thursday morning you will have no trouble finding someone to help you. There will be no reason for the employees to organize or for some of the more outspoken ones to complain to the media to have these stores close like they have been in the past on Thanksgiving. All the public has to do is not show up at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday morning to make these retail giants change their mind and that is precisely why this won't be changing any time soon. ...Have any of you ever had a friend that you wanted to help but didn't know how? That's what I am up against right now and I don't know what I should do or even if I should do anything at all. I've mentioned him before in this thread but not a lot. He's the guy who owns a baseball card and memorabilia store and he does a pretty good business at it too. His store is a lot more than just sports cards. Jerseys, autographs, video games, console systems, etc. He's now in the process of selling his business because his wife does not want to be married anymore. It literally was that one night he went to bed married and then woke up the next day with his wife letting him know of her intentions to walk out the door. What can you do about something like this except sit there and listen to the man talk? That's all I've been doing off and on during the times I've seen him and when I leave I always have the feeling that I should do more. I don't know how long they've been married but I know it's been over twenty years. His wedding was the first and only one I have been too that the men in the wedding party wore their favorite team's baseball hats during the reception dinner. This guy's a big Reds fan so Cincinnati was well represented at the front of the table. He is as big a baseball fan as we are in here but he's never been a member of this website and that's because when he wanted to buy Mvp '05 it was already off the market and the holdup artists on eBay were selling the game for seventy dollars a pop. Now he has a PS3 and plays The Show on there and he thinks that's all he needs. Maybe what I can do is try to give him a push to play Mvp again so he can be introduced to what we have here. That could be a helpful distraction and something that he needs to keep his mind off of things because what he really needs is to have his wife come to her senses and that's something I don't know how to do. ...If there is one thing about me that has never changed over the years besides my valid reasons of hating everything from New England it is my complete lack of interest in politics. That's why I don't understand why I have been watching Madam Secretary since it came on the air back in September. The first week it was on it happened to be the week I had to stay at my sister's house to watch their dog because they were on vacation. That show was on and since I had nothing to do besides letting the dog in and out and making sure she had food and water, I watched it. It's nothing but politics and all the lying, backstabbing, protocol and butt-kissing that goes along with it. But yet I haven't missed a show. It's probably because of Tea Leoni, a woman who can look hot wearing a suit of armor. Bebe Neuwirth is also on this show and she still looks like death warmed over. Welcome to politics Y4L. ...Last Monday we had our first look at snow in our area and considering what Buffalo got (more than six feet of it) we were let off easy. Even though we will be looking at the white stuff until at least the end of March the first time some people see it on the ground they tend to panic and drive like they have never been in it before. I had to run a few errands that day and I could not believe how many parked cars and garbage cans that were on the side of the road were hit by motorists. I had to go to three places that day and I only ended up going to one because I didn't want to press my luck. I enjoy bumper cars at the amusement park but not in my car. ...A teacher from New Mexico is facing charges of threatening a student with a knife for talking during a pop quiz. That is really surprising. Usually it is the other way around. ...Derek Jeter played golf with President Obama at the Shadow Creek country club in Las Vegas yesterday. I wonder if Jeter let the President tee off first? ...Owner Jeffrey Loria of the Miami Marlins gave Giancarlo Stanton a thirteen-year $325 million contract extension. The Marlins included a no-trade clause and an opt-out opportunity after six years. That means Stanton can pull an Alex Rodriguez move and opt out during the World Series six years from now. This contract makes the one Robinson Cano signed last year look paltry. This is a huge risk signing Stanton to this big of a deal because you don't know how if he will be a little gun shy when he faces live pitching in the spring after being hit in the face in Milwaukee in early September. He missed the rest of the season because of this and since then has undergone numerous surgeries because of this errant pitch. Major league managers and coaches have always said that the best thing to do when you get hit by a pitch is to immediately get back in there and hit. That's so you don't spend a lot of time thinking about the pitch that hit you because then it will always be in the back of your mind. Makes sense. But Stanton didn't get that chance. He's got to wait six months when March rolls around to face opposing pitchers. If he starts backing away from inside pitches (and in my mind's eye I can still see Paul Blair do the same thing) he is going to be in trouble. ...No matter how this ends up turning out for him Bill Cosby will not be looking back on this month with any fond memories because he has already been tried and convicted by the same media who has praised him during his long and renowned career. In an obvious public relations ploy to distance themselves from him TV Land has stopped airing reruns of The Cosby Show while NBC canceled plans for a new situation comedy centered around him. Even Netflix joined in by postponing a new stand-up comedy special which was to be broadcast this week. Nothing like hanging the guy out to dry. While this real-life soap opera is going on right in front of us one thing that people have conveniently forgotten is that everything said about Cosby are nothing but allegations and have not been proven as of yet. How trustworthy is Janice Dickinson, a woman who makes a claim against Cosby about something that happened thirty-two years ago? Thirty-two years! It is incredible to see how many people are taking this woman's word at face value for something that happened that long ago and not even questioning why she stayed silent for so long? It is entirely possible that this woman saw an opportunity to insert herself into this scandal with the hope of getting a nice fat cash settlement in the end but the media, because they are so intent on treating people if they are guilty before any real evidence is presented, have taken her word as the truth. I don't know what the truth is but I am willing to wait and find out instead of believing the word of Janice Dickinson and anyone else who has made these accusations. ...There's been a lot of lean years recently if you are a fan of the Oakland Raiders like I am and this year has been especially tough. Even though they have had bad teams for quite a while now it is still hard for me to get used to seeing this team this way because when I was younger I was used to seeing them only lose a few games a year instead of winning just a few. But that was then. Thursday night's win over Kansas City was nice but when a couple of the defensive players started celebrating too early near the end of the game I immediately thought the Chiefs were going to pull out a miracle. Never have I seen players do that before on the field before the game was over. That's something that the likes of Ted Hendricks and Jack Tatum would have never done. They still have a lot to learn. ...As I close this up this week I want to wish everyone and their families a very happy Thanksgiving here at Mvpmods. For those of you who live in other countries and don't celebrate this holiday all I can say is have a nice Thursday. Thanksgiving is a major holiday here in the U.S. where turkeys are consumed by families from coast to coast and with the introduction of deep fryers, many garages will catch fire because the cook of the day does not know how to use the fryer correctly. This holiday also means sappy movies on the Hallmark channel and football on TV all day long. The NFL owns Thanksgiving. The NBA doesn't even have any games scheduled that day and there's only one game going on in the NHL (Edmonton at Nashville) that will attract as much attention and excitement as going to the supermarket to watch the shelves being re-stocked. Even with the monopoly they have on this day the NFL repeatedly schedules mediocre games just about every year. Take the three games we get to see this year. We lead off with the Bears visiting the Lions. Detroit is always on because it's a tradition and this year they even have a good team. In past years they were so bad they had you channel surfing before halftime and before you knew it you were watching an infomercial about skin products. Next the Eagles visit the Cowboys. I used to hate having Dallas on TV every year but not now. Around the time this game is going on people are usually eating their meal or just finishing up and nothing will put you to sleep faster than a turkey dinner and watching the Dallas Cowboys. This I can personally vouch for. The final game starts at 8:30 p.m. Eastern time with the Seahawks visiting the San Francisco 49ers. Since the NFL added a third game on Thanksgiving a few years back I don't think I have watched a single one. I can only watch baseball for this long and I got to wait until April for that. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Enjoy your day! -
But you will still need me to hunt down some images, right?

Random Thoughts On A Sunday Morning Updated To 11-24

Updated to 11-16 ...This week has been exceptionally hard on me because I am cleaning out just about every room in my house and getting rid of things that have been in there for years. I when to the hardware store to get some heavy-duty Hefty bags to help me out and that's the smartest thing I did through this whole thing. The dumbest thing was starting this undertaking in the first place but I am trying to convince myself that it will be worth it in the end. It is beyond any doubt that if I lived alone I would not be doing this right now because I am someone who does not enjoy accumulating things like my wife does. I have come across things that I have never seen before and had no idea it was in the house all this time and I have seen some things that I have not looked at in over ten years that I thought was misplaced, broke or gone forever. This is going to take me awhile because as that old joke goes my back goes out more than I do and just in case I don't get the message my knees will have their own separate objections. ...And for your information it is not that easy to donate stuff to charitable organizations. I collected some furniture to give away and because I struck out with two different charities all the furniture will be placed at the end of my driveway next week for anyone who wants it. I tried to give it to the Vietnam Veterans Association and they said they could pick it up on the 18th and I said that was fine by me because that's this Tuesday but when she told me that it was December 18th and not November 18th I told them to forget it because I was not going to hold on to this stuff for that long. I was still determined to donate these items that I decided to give the Salvation Army a call. I went through my whole speech again about giving away some furniture to them and they wanted me to give them a list of exactly what I had. What the **** I said to myself. No Ma'am I did not make a list of what's down there. They are small furniture pieces and besides I am not done yet and I will be adding more. These son of a ****** wouldn't budge so all I could do is say thanks for their time even though I wanted to say something else. And that's the reason why Tuesday morning I will be dragging furniture down to the end of the driveway for anyone to pick up and take as they see fit. These people take anything and there are a lot less headaches involved. ... Next month Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills, California will be putting up for bid letters from Joe Dimaggio that he sent to Marilyn Monroe over the breakup of their marriage. I know that both of them are long gone now but does anyone really need to see these personal items? ...After watching the Yankees sleepwalk through the past two seasons I didn't care who they got rid of because it was obvious that this current group was too old, too expensive or just not good enough. Despite that I was still surprised that they started this house cleaning with Francisco Cervelli, a player who actually showed a pulse last season. ...The Mormon church last week said that Joseph Smith, the man who founded the Church of the Latter-day Saints had as many as forty wives. All I want to know is how the hell he had time to start up a church? ...Despite the toxicology report that showed that former Cardinals outfield Oscar Tavaras was driving drunk when he lost control of his car a few weeks back does not take away the sense of loss and sorrow that many people have been having since learning about the death of this extremely young ballplayer and his girlfriend. But while we mourn the death of Tavaras and think about his career and what might have been for him let's not forget for one second that the decision he made to get behind the wheel while he was that drunk was an exorbitantly stupid one and therefore he should now receive the same amount of scorn and anger equal to the pity he has already had. ...Thank God that Victor Martinez re-signed with the Detroit Tigers. That had to bug the hell out of the Yankees because they were probably just getting ready to throw him a six-year contract. ...I remember the days when I used to get excited to find out who won what award in baseball. Now I could care less and if I didn't read the shoutbox like I do every day I would have never found out. ...I'm very happy that North Korea let Kenneth Bae and Matthew Miller return to the United States for whatever their reasons were. Maybe they got tired of feeding them. And the next time someone decides to go to there to preach religion or beg for asylum or for anything else there should be no reprieve for them because if your name isn't Dennis Rodman you probably won't be leaving the country. The first and only rule about North Korea is to never go to North Korea. How hard is that? ...There is a new book that came out last Wednesday called The Lost Gospel and the authors claim that Jesus Christ was married and had two kids. The basis of these claims are based on an ancient manuscript dating back nearly 1,500 years that was found in a British library. Just because it is an old document does not mean that it is true. The thing that really is surprising me is the lack of outcry from the religious communities. They're probably reading the book from cover to cover right now so they can attack everything in it. This ought to be good. ...And one more. Why not? The President of Turkey, some guy named Recep Tayyip Erdogan (say that three times fast) says that in the twelveth century Muslims discovered North and South America nearly three centuries before Christopher Columbus got here. Where the hell did this come from? These people are so backward that they haven't even discovered the twenty-first century yet and now they are trying to claim they were the ones who discovered America? What's next? Pearl Harbor was bombed by the American Air Force by mistake? I read enough nonsense this week to last me quite a long time. Muslims discovering America? Yeah ok. If they did there would have been stories of them when they landed here of their exploits. A bombing here, a mass murdering there, kidnapping all the Indian women, a few beheadings, etc, etc. If they really had been here first before Columbus this crap would have happened. ...Next week we'll find out the Muslims landed on the moon before we did but they landed on the other side of the moon so that's why no one knew they were there. ...The Dumbest Generation, Dept: I may be inviting a lot of slack for this so I will say right from the start that this does not include everyone except for the idiots who are in the twenty-something age range and somewhere along the way in their young lives they left their brains behind and still have not noticed them missing. Take for example the twenty-one year old actor and model who, for reasons that ended up taking to his grave, got on top of a stalled commuter train in Connecticut and later died from severe burn injuries when the mechanical arms that draw power from the 12,500-volt overhead wires electrocuted him. This kid was taken to a nearby hospital with burns on 85 percent of his body where he was later pronounced dead. This is a terrible waste of life in my opinion and that's what bothers me the most. I can't say I didn't take any risks when I was twenty-one but when I was that age I wanted to be sure that the things I did did not prevent me from making it to my twenty-second birthday. Fame hits a lot of people on the internet and you never seem to know when the next viral video will be talked about and shared. It could very well be that this guy was doing a daredevil stunt just to make a name for himself and he was taking a selfie when he was hit by the electric shock. Crazy? Maybe. But not as crazy as being on the outside of a commuter train and thinking that nothing bad was going to happen. ...Let's see, first some woman makes a hidden video of herself walking through the streets of New York saying nothing at all and ignoring every greeting a man gave her. I'm sure if by chance no one even bothered to give her an hello she'd complaint about that too. Now in Hollywood a girl pretending to be drunk tries to get directions to a bus stop. Most of the guys she meets just want to give her directions to where he lives so he can give her a different kind of ride. It was a staged video and all the men just like the fake drunk girl were actors just like the original video in New York. I'll never understand why it is so acceptable to make men look like idiots but women are off limits. Maybe a video ought to be made of a single guy, not too attractive or tall, asking out some gorgeous girls. After he gets shot down the women are told that the guy that she was just talking to was loaded and then watch and see how attractive he becomes. Now there's a video I'd like to see. ...Bend Over, Dept: Because of a complaint by local Muslim leaders to acknowledge their holidays the Montgomery County school district in Maryland decided to strike all references to religious celebrations for their 2025-2016 calendars. This means for the first time ever Christmas will not be listed on the school's agenda. Wonderful. What's next? Voting not to celebrate it? Honest to God whose country is this anyway? Why are we so quick to accommodate people who come here and make their ways and traditions more important than ours? And if someone doesn't God help them because they're labeled racist and intolerant. I bet if I pick up a calendar from Iran and flip over to the month of December I'd find that the 25th is just like any other day and that's fine for them in that rat-infested country. But this isn't Iran or Syria or wherever the hell they come from. They want to live here? Fine. But adjust to how things are here and stop with the demands. No one's making you recognize Christmas. ...And this here will end one hell of a week. I'm hoping that something funny happens next week because between finding out Jesus Christ had a wife, two kids and a mortgage and learning that the Muslims discovered America and that they didn't hold groups of Indians hostage after they landed was a little too much. Now this. There is a woman named Sue Ann Hamm and she is the former wife of oil billionaire Harold Hamm and to say that her ship came in is an understatement. Because it did and this woman wants no part of it. She received a one billion dollar divorce settlement and it apparently is not enough for her because she plans on appealing the court ruling next week. I asked my wife if she would accept one billion dollars from me in a divorce and she said where do I sign. She will be paid in installments of seven million dollars a month but that's not enough. How can you spend seven million a month? And even if you do the next month you get another seven million. How do people like that fall into those situations? If someone had to give me a billion dollars the last thing I'm going to do is cry that I didn't get more. -
Upload it to the website. There are still people who play this game. Like me for instance.

Updated to 11-9 ...Thank God the elections are done. People complain about all the political mail that they get but what really gets to me is the phone calls. Twice I had a recording call me and start out with hi John, it's Cindy and I was wondering if you were going to make it out to the polls this Tuesday? Since my name isn't John I really couldn't give her an honest answer. The second time we got this recorded call my wife picked up the phone and after listening to what the message was turned to me and asked me when I changed my name to John. ...Last Tuesday the 4th was the start of the free agent season for baseball and while I have no way of knowing for sure where the top three pitchers will end up (Max Scherzer, Jon Lester and James Shields) I believe I can reasonably predict these two things happening. First, Nelson Cruz is not going to have to wait as long as he did last year to sign with a new team and secondly there is no way the Yankees are going to be able to resist signing Victor Martinez. He's perfect for them. He'll be thirty-six next month and if there is anything Yankee fans and haters can both agree on is that the Yankees love throwing long-term contracts at players at that age who can't do anything but be a designated hitter. ...The Tampa Bay Rays are contemplating tampering charges against the Cubs because they are convinced that Chicago enticed Joe Maddon to opt out of his contract with the Rays because as soon as he informed Tampa that he would not be returning as manager the Cubs were right there waiting for him with a contract and a pen in their hands. They may have a case but with the Cubs giving Maddon a five-year twenty-five million dollar contract there is probably very little that can happen. All the Cubs have to do is grease Selig's palms a little and the Rays will have as much of a chance of proving these tampering charges as someone trying to fly a kite in a tornado. ...A man from Queens, New York was sentenced up to fifty years for posing as a lawyer and as an investment advisor. Queens prosecutors said that because he charged his clients reasonable rates that was what got them alerted to what he was doing. His investment advice was equally suspicious as he was able to continually make money for all his customers. With a track record like that no wonder he was caught. ...While accepting the Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year last week actress Emma Watson was overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone and dedicated her award to her deceased hamster. And she meant it. If she keeps this up she'll be in the same ward as Amanda Bynes. ...There were a lot of pro and con comments about that twenty-four-year-old Australian woman who graduated from the University of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland last week that shared a photo of her breastfeeding her six-week-old son in her cap and gown. I only looked at the photo two or three times. Five times tops. Maybe six. And the only thing that I thought of was it was too bad that she didn't give birth to twins. ...A woman who was giving out candy on Halloween night says she accidentally lost her wedding ring when she mistakenly gave it way with the Halloween candy. For some reason she placed her wedding ring in a candy jar while helping her daughters carve pumpkins and during the night when the traffic of kids picked up she dumped the contents of the jar into the candy bag. Maybe it's me and the cynical view I have of the general public but I just don't buy it. You're giving out candy on Halloween and you put your wedding ring in a candy jar? What's wrong with putting it in your purse or walking into another room and placing it there? My guess is that she remembered that she didn't have it because she left it on her boyfriend's nightstand and the next time she goes there she will bring it home and then her husband will find out later that she "misplaced it" all this time. ...There's a British inventor named Colin Furze who has a reputation for making some fun things and if you're interested you can see some of his work on Youtube. He once invented a Jet Bike that went 50 MPH. It was unsafe but it was one of those things that you would talk yourself into trying out anyways. Now he altered a BMX bike and put ice tires on them. Basically all he did was replace the rubber tires and then put the frozen ice tires that he made and that was that. The fun part was when he was able to ride this on a hockey rink without getting hurt. I know if I did that I'd drive straight into the boards. The best part about all of this is that he gets paid to invent this stuff which is a lot more than I can say for myself. I've thought up some things in the past during the long winters that never really got off the ground. In fact they never went anywhere. Electrocuted seats in the visitors dugout at Yankee Stadium for example. I'm still wondering why they shot down that idea. ...Only in Florida, Dept: Last week in Port St. Lucie, Florida a man walked into a lawn maintenance store and after he asked the clerk to break a dollar into change for him he tried to steal a chainsaw by walking out with it by stuffing it under his shirt. It's obvious he did not have this heist planned out well in advance. The thing that amazed me was that he was able to run out the door and hop on his bicycle and get away with this thing tucked under his shirt. Florida can rest easier now that this criminal mastermind is off the streets and behind bars where he belongs. ...Alfonso Soriano retired from baseball last week because he could not see himself as a reserve player going forward after being cut by the Yankees earlier this year. He also went on to say that his mind and his heart were no longer in baseball. When was it ever? This guy was so lazy that his uniform jersey was cleaner than the ones sold at the souvenir stands and he made Robinson Cano look like he played with as much heart as Hunter Pence does. Tell the truth you lazy SOB. No one wanted you and you knew it. That's why you are retiring. ...A Fool and his Money, Dept: David Ortiz is suing a California-based jeweler regarding jewelry that he bought from him back in 2010 for $127,000 for being fake or low-quality diamond and gold jewelry. And he's just finding out about this now? I don't care how much money you have in the bank when you make a purchase for this amount you have your items checked out. This guy is so stupid that he carries his brains in his back pocket. As soon as he retires from baseball I'll give him a few years and he'll be flat broke. ...If the accuracy of the reports that Alex Rodriguez admitted to taking PED's to the Drug Enforcement Administration back in January are to be believed I think it is too little and too late for anyone to really care if he came clean or not. I am convinced if he had done this before he received his year-long suspension the public perception may have been different but right now? How disruptive is this going to be for the Yankees next year? It's not even close to spring training yet and already they have been embarrassed by the end of his suspension. I don't feel that bad for them because they were the ones who threw that huge contract at him but at the same time they didn't deserve any of this. It's sad in a way because he is going to be totally alone next year and he can't blame anyone for that and if he does no one will believe him anyways. He's in for a long year next year from the boobirds both home and on the road and the only way that's going to stop is when he starts depositing baseballs over the left field wall on a regular pace. If that happens you just watch and see how a lot of fans will cheer him again like nothing happened. Nothing leads to forgiveness quicker than a home run. ...I wonder how all those people that were holding up signs to support him during his hearing feel now? ...The Whole Truth and Nothing but the Truth, Dept: Of all the things I have written about in here over the years I am sure that many of these posts have been brought into question concerning their validity by some of the people who read this weekly Sunday edition that I do. As Mark Twain once said truth is stranger than fiction and all you have to do is go back and re-read some of the pages here in this very thread to see exactly what he means. There's a reason why I brought this up right now and it's because of something that happened down in Texas last week and I'm telling you after I'm done you're going to say I made it up. Last Monday night a woman broke into her husband's friends house and tried to wake him up orally while he was sound asleep in bed. The man then awoke to find her dressed only in her underwear while sitting on top of him. He then asked her what she was doing in his room but he got no response since she was too busy and unable to talk. Finally she took a break and lifted her head and the man realized it was his friend's wife and he told her to get dressed and leave and when she refused instead of letting her finish up he called 911 and the woman was arrested and charged with felony burglary with the intent of committing a sexual assault. If a duck had this guy's brain, it would fly north for the winter. Told you no one would believe me, didn't I? ...The same thing happened to me once but then I woke up. ...I had no doubt that Eric Frein, the man who killed one Pennsylvania trooper and seriously injured another would eventually be caught but I was surprised that it took forty-eight days to do it. I'd of never made it forty-eight minutes if I had to sleep outside like he did. ...Amanda Knox, who the Italians are still trying desperately to get back in the country, got a new job as a freelance arts reporter at The West Seattle Herald newspaper this past Wednesday. This position is only temporary because the reporter covering the crime beat for that paper is retiring at the first of the year and she'll be able to step right in and cover what she knows best. ...Maybe it was because AC/DC has not released a new album since 2008 and you can chalk it up to boredom but drummer Phil Rudd was arrested in New Zealand for attempting to arrange a murder of two men along with threatening to kill and possession of methamphetamine and cannabis. So as you can clearly see he's been busy. Even though the murder-for-hire charge was later dropped because the police said there was not enough evidence to proceed, he still faces the charge of charge of threatening to kill and that could keep him behind bars for the next seven years. This is the second major blow for the band this year as founder Malcolm Young had to permanently leave the group due to dementia. Based on what Rudd did he must have it too. -
I am sorry this happened to you. Unfortunately what you have brought up here is nothing new. There are a lot of ungrateful and impatient people on this website that want their questions and demands answered five minutes after they ask them and if that doesn't happen they think there is something the matter with you. To be quite honest with you I am AMAZED that you have time at all to mod 2k12 let alone spend time on this website. You put in a lot of hours and along with the attention you have to give to your five children which by the way is more important than making a mod or answering a stream of private messages from a pushy and selfish user. You help when you can and only when you can and that's that. People like that guy are a small but annoying minority around here. Thank you for your mods.

You made two exact threads. One has been deleted for you. I hope you get your question answered.
