  1. I am glad you got it fixed. Welcome to Mvpmods!
  2. The focus this week is on a modder who was responsible for a series of diverse and good looking click-to-start screens and a modder whose 1998 season mod was a welcome addition to the series of total conversion mods we have here and in the behind-the-scenes section this week we pay tribute to a modder who provided a lot of the classic cyberfaces that was used in Total Classics. Dagger147 Dagger147 was a modder who made a variety of different click-to-start screens that were used by a lot of people here. He also wrote a tutorial on how you can make your own customized CTS screens (listed below.) His "screen pack" mods were a collection of CTS screens of different players that played for the same team. American League Team Logos CTS Screens. National League Team Logos CTS Screens. Note: While this is a very good collection of team logos made into Click-to-Start screens these were all made when Mvp 2006 was released and the template used here depicts the name of that mod. I don't know if it is possible to edit the text in a CTS screen but I thought that Dagger's work here was something to be seen again. Dagger147's CTS Tutorial. 1024x1024 CTS Template. This is a .psd template and it requires Photoshop. St. Louis Cardinals CTS Screen Pack. Andy82 Andy82 is a baseball fan who lives in England and after talking for awhile about the possibilities of making a 1998 mod he then decided to do it himself and the end result was that he made a mod well worthy of being part of the classic season mod collection that is available on this site. To date his mod has over 1,300 downloads. Total Classics 1998. Total Classics 1998 Patch. Behind the Scenes Baseballfans Baseballfan is a modder who has been a member here almost since the site began and he is also another of the long list of modders whose name is not familiar with the typical user that comes here but is well known among modders, especially with the work he has contributed to the Total Classics mods. Baseballfans is responsible for making such quality cyberfaces such as Hank Aaron, Ted Williams, Tony Gwynn, Roger Maris and Ernie Banks, which are all included in the Total Classics mod. If you are a new user to this website or if you are someone who has been here for awhile and has not downloaded any of the classic season mods yet you may have noticed one thing. These mods were created and put together by the contributions of many people like baseballfans and it is the combined work of modders like him that made Total Classics what it is today.
  3. I don't know what the problem could be since I have never had it happen to me. Have you tried to Install the faces with TiT?
  4. I was thinking about this question last night and I think I got an answer for it. You did download Mvp Edit, right? You will need that. Now I have a copy of this game on my hard drive that is installed directly from the CD's and it has no mods installed on it. Around here it is sometimes referred to as a "clean" copy. So I figured why can't I start up Mvp Edit and make a .mbe file from the default rosters? So that's what I did. So what I am giving you here is the very first (and oldest) roster from this game. Default_2005_Roster.zip
  5. Mickey Cochrane Gordon Stanley "Mickey" Cochrane was one of baseball's greatest catchers. He compiled a .320 lifetime batting average over 13 seasons from 1925 to 1937, handled outstanding pitchers Lefty Grove and Schoolboy Rowe during their record-tying 16-game winning streaks, and in 1947 was the first catcher elected by the Baseball Writers Association of America to the Hall of Fame. Cochrane wasn't just a great baseball player, though. He was a hero and role model to millions of people during the Great Depression of the 1930s when as player-manager of the Detroit Tigers he led the downtrodden Tigers to their first pennant in 25 years. The combination of Cochrane's fierce competitiveness on the field and his likable personality off the field, mixed with his successful rise from humble beginnings, helped Americans take their minds off the widespread unemployment during the Great Depression and encouraged them that they too could weather the economic times. Many parents named their children after Cochrane, including one Oklahoma family named Mantle. Playing for the Philadelphia Athletics and Detroit Tigers, Cochrane led five teams to American League pennants during the seven-year span from 1929 through 1935, an era most fans remember as being dominated by Babe Ruth and the New York Yankees. Three of these five teams went on to win World Series titles. Cochrane was the catcher on Connie Mack's Philadelphia Athletics team that won three consecutive pennants from 1929 to 1931. It was as player-manager of the Detroit Tigers, however, that Cochrane achieved national fame and adulation, leading the Tigers to pennants in 1934 and 1935, and to Detroit's first World Series title in 1935. Following the World Series victory in 1935, he suffered a breakdown in 1936 after being elevated to general manager in addition to his player-manager duties. On May 25, 1937, soon after his recovery from the breakdown, he was hit in the head by a pitch from Yankee pitcher Bump Hadley in those helmetless days and was nearly killed, ending his major league playing career. Cochrane came back as bench manager in 1938, but was ineffective outside his playing-field leadership and was fired on August 6, 1938. He was a great leader on the field, but cast as a "caged lion" bench manager, he never managed again in the major leagues. While hitting just 119 home runs in his career, Cochrane had 64 triples, the most among Hall of Fame catchers that played in the 20th century. His ability to launch doubles and triples lands him just outside the game's top 100 in slugging percentage with his .478 average. Cochrane's lack of home run production over his career - which wasn't required because he batted in front of such sluggers as Al Simmons, Jimmie Foxx, and Hank Greenberg - has somewhat unfairly diminished the luster of his contribution to the game. Cochrane was selected as American League MVP twice, in 1928 and 1934, primarily on his leadership abilities rather than his statistical accomplishments. On the field, Cochrane had a certain inspiration that infected other players to do their best. Cochrane never played on a team that finished worse than third place.
  6. Updated to 1-26 ...Dennis Rodman has checked into an undisclosed alcohol rehabilitation center in order to receive help for his long time struggle with alcoholism. The reason why it is undisclosed is because the place that has him told him he could only stay there if he kept quiet where he was because they wanted to continue having clients after he leaves. Rodman checked into the center upon his return from North Korea because his agent said that he was under a lot of pressure when he organized a basketball game there in honor of Kim Jong Un's birthday and that he had been doing a lot of excessive drinking because of it. That's pretty good. Travel halfway around the world to play in a basketball game to make some maniac happy, insinuate that the American being held captive there is there because of something he did and swear at an interviewer on live TV when being asked why he was there in the first place and when you come home hide out some place and blame it all on alcohol. ...Good news! Well, maybe. C.C. Sabathia signed with Roc Nation Sports, the sports agency started by Jay Z. He's the same agent that whispered sweet nothings in Robinson Cano's ears and got him a one-way ticket to Seattle. Sabathia has at least three years left on his contract so they can't do anything right now about getting him a new one. Not that he deserves it or anything. But it's my hope that Jay Z will be annoying all this time and the Yankees end up unloading Sabathia, who last year looked like he lost everything on the mound except weight. ...The Baseball Assistance Team have created a new award called the Commissioner Bud Selig Leadership Award which in all probability is an award given to Baseball executives who screw up the most during the season and the first recipient of this award was none other than Selig himself. This means that whomever wins this in the following years has impossible shoes to fill. ...Modell’s Sporting Goods gambled on the wrong AFC team to win last week as they printed up $500,000 worth of hats, t-shirts, novelties and pennants for men, women and children who wanted to celebrate the New England Patriots victory in the championship game and who at the same time would not mind overpaying for the privilege. Denver messed everything up for them by winning the game and all the memorabilia that was to be sold at three times it cost them to make it at was donated by Modell's to third world countries so if you really want one of these t-shirts you'll have to drive down to Mexico to get it. ...This is not an uncommon thing because something like this happens every year and every time I read about this it makes me think of a Toronto businessman many years ago. It was during the 1985 American League Championship Series between the Blue Jays and the Kansas City Royals. The Blue Jays were having their way with the Royals as they took a three games to one lead in the best-of-seven series. Just one more win and the Jays would be on their way to their first World Series. It was at this moment in time that a Toronto man whose name I do not know quit his $100,000 a year job just so he can go into business selling Blue Jays championship memorabilia. Ask any Royals fan and they'll tell you that this guy made the wrong career choice because the Royals came back to win the series in seven games over Toronto and they had so much fun doing that that they spotted the Cardinals the same three games to one edge before storming back to win the 1985 World Series. I never knew what happened to this person or how much money he ended up losing or if he ended up getting his job back. I just know that he lost a bundle because no one would buy his Blue Jay "we're number one" styrofoam hands. ...A nun in Italy last week gave birth to a baby boy, news of which shocked the other nuns at the convent as well as the mother herself. Incredibly she did not know she was pregnant. Instead she just thought she was experiencing stomach pains that kept on contracting every few minutes or so for twenty straight hours. It is not sure who the father of the baby is but the day after the child was born Guiseppe the gardener abruptly quit and has not been seen since. ...For the movers and shakers in the Roman Catholic church what some of their people have done in the past seven days or so is something they'd just as soon forget. The pregnant nun story will eventually die down just like all sensational stories before it has but I think it's going to be harder for the public to let go of this one. One of the monsignors from the Vatican arrested last Tuesday for allegedly using his Vatican bank accounts to launder money. Police have accused him of transferring millions of euros in fictitious donations from offshore companies at the Vatican's Institute for Religious Works. I'm not sure how he did this because the only time I do any laundering it is in front of a washing machine but he somehow took money from the Vatican when no one was looking and in turn transferred it to real estate and assets in Italian bank accounts. How do you like that? And I bet all this time you thought the money gathered from the collection plate on Sundays ended up at the nearest casino. ...That's my Boy, Dept: An eighteen-year-old high school student was allowed to return to class last week after he was suspended by school officials because he got a job making pornographic movies just so he could help his mother pay bills. His mother reported that when the other students discovered what he was doing her son became a target of bullying and threats. It should be noted that none of the threats were made from members of the female student body. The mother went on to say that partly because of these threats the school expelled her son due to his "explicit lifestyle career." After all the dust was settled the suspension only stuck for four days and that was enough time to make one more movie because they are considering adding HBO and Showtime to their DirecTV package. ...For any of you who remember MarkB you may want to read this to see what is going on with him today. If you recall, Mark is from Glasgow, Scotland and he works in the computer field. He even had a job at Dell once before they downsized and got rid of people. This indirectly has something to do with what he is doing now. For the past few years he has been trying to find some steady employment in Glasgow but unfortunately the job situation there is not so good. There is a program that Scotland has that sends people that want to work to Australia for employment and after some delays in getting there Mark has been in Brisbane, Australia since December 2nd. It was a twenty-eight hour flight from Glasgow to Brisbane that included layovers and changing planes. (When he told me how long that took I promised myself not to complain about long the flight is to Hawaii the next time I go.) Anyways, he's there enjoying the Australian summer and watching some Australian Baseball League games because Brisbane is part of that league. He says the Australian fans are pretty knowledgeable about the game. The best part is that he already has a job. He is doing IT work at the hotel he is staying at and in return they are giving him a free room and a few hundred dollars a week. Mark was and is a very good guy and I am hoping that once he gets settled there and into a daily routine that he will come back here and say hi because these past few years have been crazy for him. ...What's the big fuss about Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman? He's just another loud mouthed, in-your-face, me-first football player. Ray Lewis was the same way just as there were others before Lewis and there's going to be others after Sherman. The only real news this guy will end up making is when we find out what crime he gets arrested for in the off season. ...After reading about the player representatives from the Major League Baseball Players Association overwhelmingly agreeing that Alex Rodriguez should be kicked out of their union it got me thinking and playing the "what if" game. These players are so upset at Rodriguez suing their union that they want nothing to do with him. Think about it for a second. Every single player rep wanted him out including the Yankee one and that guy might have to end up playing with him next year. And if he does come back in 2015 he's going to have to shake off more then the rust of not playing for a year because his entire body is going to be a magnet for baseballs. At least Barry Bonds had supporters. Rodriguez has nothing and that makes me also wonder if in his private moments that he thinks he went too far? ...I was thrilled to find out that the Yankees had signed Japanese pitcher Masahiro Tanaka because of the many things that they needed, pitching was right up there. But after the excitement of this signing set in that's when I started worrying. The Yankees hadn't had very good luck with Japanese pitchers (Hideki Irabu and Kei Igawa) and would this be the third lemon that they picked from the Japanese leagues? I hope not because he looks like he has a good arm but playing in Japan is different than playing here. This is an improved team from last year on paper but is it enough? ...Which brings me to Jonny Gomes of the Red Sox. There was a column about him in the New York Daily News which I'll go as far as giving you a link to it right here. This tabloid covers the Yankees very well year-round but you have to read the articles with your eyes wide open. If they could have stirred something up with this column the better for them although when you stop and think about it, Gomes was right. Maybe that's what bugged them in the first place. Gomes was not "particularly impressed" with the free agent signings that the Yankees have done this winter and went on to say that they still have “some questions.” Not exactly words to get worked up and bothered over and to be truthful here I agree with him. Gone are the days when I get all excited over some new free agent that comes to town with an impressive resume. The last time I believed that is when they signed Mark Teixeira. I don't need a reason to dislike something a Red Sox player says but make it a legitimate one. ...We've been busy, Dept: An attention-seeking family in South Carolina are seeking a new trial for a fourteen-year-old relative of theirs named George Stinney who was executed in 1944 for murdering two girls, ages nine and eleven. They are insisting he is innocent and while they can't bring him back, they want his name cleared. All I want to know is why now? Why the hell did they wait seventy years to try to get the courts to hear this again? If I seem apathetic about this it is because I am. Why now all of a sudden do they want this case tried? Why didn't they request this twenty years ago? Or forty years ago? With all the time that went by it couldn't have been bothering them that much. It's not like they had seventy years of sleepless nights over this. My guess is that this has a lot to do with the media and the desire to be on TV. Maybe they want to go on the Oprah Winfrey Network and have her hold their hands while they tell their story or go on some other talk show that's willing to give them the time of day. What a total waste of the courts time. ...The NFL should be on their knees right now thanking God that the Super Bowl was not scheduled to be played this Sunday because of that snowstorm last week that dumped fourteen inches of snow there last Tuesday and Wednesday. MetLife Stadium in New Jersey is buried right now, which is normal because it's wintertime and it's the east coast and when you factor those two things in together that is what you should expect. The NFL knew what they were getting into and they'll stubbornly play this game because they'll have no problem letting a stadium full of people freeze in a snowstorm rather than lose millions of dollars.
  7. I would have to say that starting a thread and asking the question in there would be the best thing because there are a lot of smart people here who know roster work very well and I am not one of them. Don't be. When I first got here I asked questions too and that's how you learn. The best advice I can give to you or anyone else who is just starting out getting mods like you is after you download the mod read the instructions that comes with them. After you read those instructions you back up your files that you are going to overwrite. If you get in the habit of doing that you will save yourself a lot of headaches.
  8. Then give me the go ahead to take one down or I believe you can remove one yourself. But we don't need two of the same mod here.
  9. I am sorry to bring this thread out to the front page again. It has been a little over three months since I was here reminding people about this and I have to do it again because there has been a major rules change as far as the penalty and length of time you will serve if it is discovered you have a duplicate account. Some people make their duplicate accounts the day they join here. They are required to read the rules but that still doesn't prevent them from creating four accounts that same day. I wish I could say I was stretching the truth a little bit right now but I'm not. This is exactly what happens at times. Some people will become members and will create their second account a few days later, or a week, or a month after they've joined. Some people take it upon themselves to create a new account because they "forgot" their password to their other one. If this does happen to you and you do forget your password or if something happens where you can't get it, don't make a new account. You'll soon see why. Incredibly, people who are modders and/or contributors also have been caught making duplicate accounts. When you are a modder or a contributor you already have the right to unlimited downloads so for someone in this status to make another account is something I do not understand at all. I won't bother to name any names here because there's no need to do that but let me say one thing about this. This is something that has happened many times. Well, now you know why there has been some rules changes with the duplicate accounts. Now let me tell you what they are: 1. The first offense for a duplicate account is six (6) months. 2. The amount of time you will be serving if you make a second account has been increased to one (1) year. The time added to this should show you once and for all that having a duplicate account here is not a good idea. Before I go let me request this from you. If you have another account and you are not sure if the staff here knows about it, PLEASE send a PM to someone on the staff so the second account can be taken care of for you. We asked the same thing in before back in September and nobody wrote to us and when these members were caught they were suspended. I don't want anyone here right now to serve six months for something that can be easily avoided as this. If you do forget your password send an e-mail to yankee4life@mvpmods.com. I will try to help you and get you back in so you don't have to take it upon yourself to make a new one and make a mistake. Thank you Y4L 1-24-14
  10. Well then, whomever the cyberface makers are for that game they can make one or maybe one is already being worked on.
  11. Hahahahahahaaha. Well, we hide it pretty good.
  12. You may as well. It can't hurt any. But you got to remember what I said before. When you get those error messages that means the file is no longer hosted.
  13. Just wondering and hoping if this will ever get updated. This is really good work by baseballfans.
  14. No problem. There's so much in the download section that it is easy to overlook stuff. If you don't mind let me give you a piece of advice I give to all new users. Spend some quality time in the download section and look around to see what there is. You are a contributor plus so you can download as much as you want. There's a lot of things in that download area that will make your game better.
  15. One more related question, regarding an often-mentioned but elusive file. Is MVPedit floating around somewhere? Right here.
  16. Ok, you lost two games. Time to re-group. When I'm not hitting I play that batting game in the game to get some practice in. Seems to help me a little. Then in your next game take a look at the lineup of the other team and pick one guy and drill the son of a *&^% in the head. Pound him and then kick him and then oh, wait, never mind. Got off-track there a little. Good luck in game three!
  17. Glad to help. Those intro movies got annoying awfully fast, didn't they?
  18. Please check the newest uploads. The mod you wanted has been uploaded to the website again.
  19. View File No Intro Movies If you're tired of hitting the escape key to bypass all the intro movies, then this file is for you. Directions: Unrar all the files to your MVP Baseball 2005\data\frontend\movies folder, overwriting the existing files. Note: Please back up the original files first. Enjoy! Submitter Trues Submitted 01/22/2014 Category Miscellaneous
  20. Check this thread for more information on error messages like this. However, since the modder of this file is still active on this site I can ask him if I can upload the file again since I have it.
  21. Lately there have been many reports about files that users have not been able to download. What this means is that these files are no longer hosted on the server and therefore can not be downloaded any longer. Over the years this website has had many server changes and some files were not transferred over. One thing you will notice about all these "broken" files is that they are some of the oldest mods on the site. So the next time you see this notice below you will understand its meaning. Thank you. Not Found The requested URL.......................... was not found on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
