so far, only 1 HIT in today's game. can't even win 1 game of the weekend series to go to WC game. now, when they lose, it's Cole to start tomorrow and will not even know if they can count on him. PATHETIC TEAM..

if I were GM of the Yankees, I would pull the sting and bundle Sanchez and Torres in a package for a good SP. I'm sure I would not hurt a majority of Yankees fan by doing so. and being a Yankees fan, but not so much this season, I am not sure which way I want the Yankees to go today, win to play the Sox on Tuesday, or lose ( as I have said they are not going anywhere at year ) to play the tiebreaker tomorrow.

Top WC position 2 game lead with 3 games left to possibly a tie breaker game. What a bunch of has beens. $tanton back to his woeful hitting. Torres with a brain fart on passed ball strike out. Sanchez, another dud.

yup!! it's their own fault...plus money bags Cole could not step up and win his last game as he got tagged by the Jays leaving him with an ERA over 5 and a 3 win 2 loss record for September (the stretch run) which would have helped as they would be in the WC game with 2 game lead today. so, right now at this time, I do NOT give a damn about the Yankees,, they can lose tomorrow (which most likely will happen as they cannot beat the Rays) for all I care and go home for the winter.

Yanks already down 3 to 1. Looks like they may BLOW any WC slot. That's what they get when they don't hit and have lost games vs lowly teams as Angels, O's, etc.

great win last night again. now maybe wanting too much but a sweep will be great this weekend to keep the team on a roll. never did like the WC as it is a one and done. didn't expect the Yankees to be where they are today the way the season has gone, BUT, the division should have been theirs for the taking.

@Yankee4Life I know no team can win every game. this is baseball, ups and down as I had played organized baseball BUT this team has lost many games they should have WON, either leading late in the game but numerous runs or could not score with RISP when needed, or could not beat them, especially against the low teams is what has gotten me this year since they could have been the division winner and IF they blow the WC position then I can say for myself, as I have all season, a bunch of has-beens.

Cole is not the ACE of the staff anymore. 6.15 ERA last 5 starts. Not looking good. Kluber pitches tonight. Oh my!! Not looking good, either. May lose the top WC spot, may even lose any WC spots. Not getting my hopes up - haven't had it all season, anyway.

@Yankee4Lifepretty much what I was thinking last week upon sweeping games and not 2 of 3 because this only gains 1 game in the standing. There were games I thought of that should have been won and the Yankees would be looking good right now and that Tiger series you mentioned I had forgotten . So, yes, they need these games. It's their fault the position they are in right now.

Great win and sweep!! Thank you Joe West for calling safe on dropped foul tipped catch by Vazquez. But it shouldn't have come down to this race IF they hadn't blown several losses during the season. Now Yankees have TOUGH week ahead while the Sox have easy schedule.

@Yankee4Life. I remember when this team used to play better. Cashman will never take the hint in avoiding the big money players. He is going to make the same mistake this winter. its the long term contracts that get me. 3, maybe 4 years but no longer.

Okay Yankees fans. They NEED to sweep the Sox. 2 out of 3 won't do. And recently losing 2 games to the Indians, 2 to the O's, 2 to the Mets, etc. Etc. Etc have cost the top WC. And look at the Rays, low payroll team taking 2 straight division titles. No need for big $$$ players. Take hint, Ca$hman.
