  1. Played the first game of my season today, custom settings, sliders untouched. Got Knight's rosters and took off at home against the Mariners. Wow, sliders straight out of the box seem tweaked a little tighter this year. I realize it's early, but the game played extremely solid. Walks and K's are a little off at this point, and I'm sure I'll tweak more. Glad I didn't give up on this before I got it out of the box. 13 Innings Seattle: 4 | 9 | 1 Oak: 6 | 13 | 2
  2. Awesome, gonna add you guys later today. And Sean, not ignoring you my man, I put your cell in my phone again (didn't even see your PM until the other day). The NCAA Tourney and with the kids being home on Spring Break is reeking havoc here in the Jay household. Indiana plays today at 2:45 p.m. EST today. If we lose, I'm diving straight into baseball, if not, it'll be a week and a half at the most. Can't wait to get my head on straight again. :)
  3. Wow, to be honest, I didn't even notice the music when watching the trailer, I was so enamored with how well the cinematography was done, along with the casting itself. Either that, or I just tune out automatically when rap is being played. :lazy:
  4. We ran a league awhile back, and it was an absolute blast. Great games, great competition. It's surprising how well some of these hardcore baseball gamers actually know the game and play it right. Not to mention, the guys we ran with "knew" each other for years via this site, therefore making the game even more enjoyable. In other words, you could trust your opposition to be a good sport through it all, especially when you're wearing headsets. Just way too much fun. Further, it was just as much fun to watch the scores unfold from the other members of your league in real time. Can't wait to get going again. :)
  5. As I said, I've only played one game, but it's obvious I'm going to have to tweak the sliders. Not bad out of the box, but a bit too much offense for me. I like to stay around 4 or 5 runs a game, 8-11 hits per game, 110+ pitches, 4-6 K's, 3-4 BB, a variety of extra base hits, errors, and the occasional blowout and/or very tightly pitched games. There's not a doubt in my mind I'll get the game playing solid, it's just a matter of time. That said though, there seems to be a handful of new features, but I'm sure I'll dive into that last. It took me awhile, in the beginning, to get used to the animations -- players taking angles to the ball, players rounding the bags, etc., but it's become clear that these animations all have to do with timing. For example, when a ball is hit into the gap, and depending on who's running the bases, it depends on where the ball's hit, the angle the fielder is taking to the ball, and the speed of the baserunners. A ball hit moderately deep in the gap, with an outfielder taking a wide angle, can be pushed into a double if you have a speedy baserunner, Michael Bourne, for example. I loved MVP, but the lack of realism in the animations would hardly allow you to get such realism. Again, in the past few Show games, I've never once hit a ball off the wall and only gotten a single out of it, which is really the way it should be. It didn't happen often in MVP, but it did happen. Anyway, The Show is a great game, very well thought out and calculated, it just takes a bit of getting used to when jumping from earlier baseball games. When you get the sliders adjusted to your liking, there's just no better game of baseball out there. Hopefully we get some guys on the bandwagon and play some good online games this year.

  8. Carlos, I got the game earlier tonight and tweaked a few gameplay settings and I thought I'd post a couple of pics. Other than a few new features and the menu screens, the game looks pretty much the same. I've only played one game so far, I'll know more as I get some more games in. Anyway, here's the custom batting camera I'm using:
  9. You're right, Carlos, I remember that. Both were excellent games, can't wait to play again this season! :)
  10. Carlos! We need to play some games online this season. You owe me an a** kicking. We played twice and I beat you 2-1 both times. BUT... I never beat you, you made a couple of mistakes at the end of both games. We need to get some good games in. :)
  11. Thanks for the info, Sean. Come to think of it, our Gamestop is having a midnight release on Tomb Raider. I'll have to give them a call and see if they can let loose a copy of The Show '13. See if I can hand Houston their first A.L. loss. :spiteful:
  12. I'm not sure if they're having a midnight release like they did last year, but if I'm up, I'll probably shoot over and grab a copy. Pray for me if there's an RPG coming out at the same time. I almost got swiped with a wooden sword last year.
  13. Humbly, I'm going to have to pass. IMO, this documentary (which is a fantastic idea, by the way) should be reserved for those that made MVP 2005 what it is today. For those that put in long hours modding and/or creating programs that changed the face of this game, which after nearly 9 years, is still going strong. And for Trues for creating and stabilizing a community that has brought thousands together to enjoy the game of baseball. I merely took advantage of that hard work, like thousands of others, and enjoyed the fruits of their labors. That being said, I have spent more time here at Mods that I have anywhere else, and have enjoyed and made tons of friends as a result. The impact of this site in conjunction with meeting other hardcore baseball gamers will always be with me. I've never had more fun presenting the game of baseball through my dynasties, which really gave me the opportunity to share the game and make life long friends. Something that will never change. However, this is only my personal opinion, and however the documentary is to be presented will be a masterpiece. I have no doubt. There is so much to cover from the inception to this site and finally what it has become today. It's incredible, really. Finally, thanks so much for the offer, I truly and fully appreciate it and will continue to follow this thread and hope this project comes to life.
  14. Good to hear you're doing better, and welcome back!
  15. Without a doubt. :good:
  16. Very cool. Would be hard to pass this one up. Fun stuff. :)
  17. If I were Dimaggio, Ruth, Gherig, etc., players that honored that game with tremendous pride, I'd turn in my grave if I knew Rose's picture was hung beside mine in the HOF. To me, the game isn't just about numbers, it's a game/tradition that is bigger than all of us. A way of life. There is without a doubt Pete Rose's numbers belong in the HOF, and I felt honored to see him play -- he was the epitome of what a baseball player could become. As a player/manager, he bet on his own team. That's cheating, and there is simply no room for it in any professional sport.
  18. No prob, bro. I've got almost everything I've ever made. Just gimme a shout. :)
  19. Nice job on this GRS. I'm not a hockey fan by any means, but the presentation and updates are very well done. :)
  20. We really need a "Like" button. I'd start watching the NFL again if these guys came back. Even at 65 years old. :p
  21. Welcome to the site. Sorry, I don't play MLB2K so I really can't help you with you're problem, but I'm sure there are enough people here that do play and someone will be able to help. Hopefully. However, I play The Show 12 and was just curious why you can't play it?
  22. Anyone else watching this? What a great show so far. I'm really liking how this season is starting to shape up, most definitely moving quicker than last season. I enjoyed this last episode with the Governor; the dynamics between him and Merle (who we know to be a complete bad ass) really showed how powerful the Governor actually is in this community. Seeing Merle subdued (in any circumstance) was something I never thought would be played out. That said, and if you've watched the previews for this coming week's episode, "someone" sets off the alarm at the prison to obviously attract the walkers and bring havoc to Rick and the group. IMO, at least, I think it's whoever was watching Carol (from outside the prison) perform the C-Section on the walker. I think it would be too easy to assume it's the other prisoners that Rick exiled to a different part of the prison, and that said, wouldn't that attract the walkers to them too? With that opinion in mind, I can't for the life of me figure out who it was in the bushes, and for what reason they would try to take out the group.
