  1. You gotta love this game, what's a good movie without the villain? No wonder there's 162 games in a season.
  2. wooHOO!!  Don't take it for granted, right now, a win is a win.   :D
  3. I'm actually 5-5 in my last 10.  After a 9-18 June, that's a monumental accomplishment.  Losing Holliday is going to crush my offense, but I'll deal with that if/when it happens. Just curious though, you said you were playing a Show Dynasty too?  Are you presenting it somewhere else?
  4. Other than getting his pocket picked, it looked like Beckett came through.  Congrats, I can see it was a much needed win.  Always good to get them from the good teams in the league, too. :drinks:
  5. Our records are almost identical, rick, too bad you're division is a much steeper hill to climb.  Man, it's a long season, anything can happen. With Beckett on the mound, you should be able to notch one here.  Good luck.  B)
  6. Not really sure yet, and since it would probably not be until next baseball season, I probably don't even know what game it would be played with.   What I would give for Sony to put The Show '10 on PC, and have it be completely moddable..
  7. The way that you and I play are classic examples of what it's like to play a season at either end of the spectrum.  I play one compact season with accurate rosters (pretty close) and basically am "controlled" by what happens in the Majors, you, on the other hand, and like a lot of other people, have made a decision to have that control not only for the current season, but since you've decided to play multiple seasons consecutively, you're forced to do what's best for your team in the future, which involves making decisions now.   I've always stopped short of doing this because I didn't want to close the door on the possibility that I may want to play with someone else the next year, or just the simple fact that a new and better baseball game may come out and I wouldn't be able to accumulate stats over a period of time anyway.   I can honestly tell you that I have never played this way at least since baseball video games have aquired the real MLB and/or Player's license.   I don't feel confined by playing the game the way I do, as a matter of fact I prefer it, but I can feel a "fantasy" season coming on, I'm just getting the itch to do something totally different.
  8. I hear you, it's definitely frustrating.  Like you, I'm 5.5 back, next to last place in the A.L. West.  But since I only play one season at a time (instead of consecutively), I'm going to keep on pushing with what I have and finish my season the best that I can.   I will say this, I've been down further than this before (10 games at All Star Break with Cubs in 2007), but the downside is I'm more than likely going to lose Holliday, and this A's team just simply doesn't have the talent to overpower anyone in the league. This may be the worst A's team I've ever played my seasons with, but at least it will be a challenge.  Either way, I hope you follow this one to the end, it'll be interesting to see where you wind up.
  9. Uh oh, shakin' it down. Hopefully some of these moves will pan out for you. A weak bullpen can be very frustrating.
  10. We're pathetic rick.  Let's go get a beer.. B)
  11. Good luck against the Twins, rick, looks like they're playing pretty good ball.
  12. I'll consider myself lucky if I get 2 wins out of the next 6 games.  Like you, I'll do the best I can and then refocus after the break.
  13. Man rick, your games are starting to look like mine.  Too many losses.  Unfortunately, Boston is extremely tough in my dynasty and I've got the nexy 3 games with them. Ugh.. <_<
  14. rick, I looked back through your thread but I didn't see it, just curious what schedule you are using.
  15. I just dontated to through the Donation option, guess that was ok?
  16. emath - I was in the same position, I had donated but it was some time ago.  We all hear you loud and clear, the recession is everywhere.  As much as I've personally gained from this site, I felt it was time to bite the bullet. It's one less Happy Meal for the kids, which is something I need to be thankful for in the first place.  :D
  17. In my opinion, this should have been done a long time ago. Look in your MVP 2005 Baseball folder and tell me you don't have 10 dollars worth of somebody's time, whether they offered it up for free or opted to charge for it. (which I believe should be at the modder's discretion) Then ask yourself what it takes just to maintain one of the best gaming sites on the planet, and what it costs to keep it optimized and running smoothly for 5 years. IMO, it's time to pay up. *Edit - I finally got my PayPal to work , another donation is on the way, thanks to everyone for the great site!
  18. Hey man, I hope you're not getting a whiff of this West Coast plague..
  19. Congrats on the W, rick.  4 runs on 6 hits, now that's efficiency.   ^_^
  20. Way to pound em, rick.  Hopefully I can put a thumping on the Tigers tonight too. (I hope rroy doesn'tread this)   B)
  21. I agree. Not only are you in a hole, but you're going to have to fight your way through some of the best teams in baseball. Ouch. My A's are pretty weak this year, but at least I'm in a weak division.
  22. Tough loss, rick, and to lose this late in the game makes it even worse.  3 games under .500 isn't the end of the world at this early in the season though. Hang in there.   B)
  23. Yep, that's what we both need.  A couple of sweeps can change everything in a matter of a week and a half.  I'm going to play this Turn Back The Clock game and present it later today, but after that I'll figure out something to restructure the presentations so that they're spread out but still informative. Good luck with the White Sox, you should be able to get the upper hand in this series.
  24. Yep, forgot about the first one with Zink.  I see it now, it was a 2-1 loss.  There's a lot of season left, so I don't think all is lost as of now.   BTW, I may start updating a series at a time, or possibly just 2 or 3 times a month, there just really seems to be miminal interest in the game in general.  Probably to be expected with a 4 year old game, but I'm still having the funnest season I've had since I've owned it, more than likely because it's been my biggest challenge yet. Anyway, for you and me, it's time to start focusing on winning 2 out of 3, it'll pay off off in the long run.   B)
