  1. Actually, I haven't seen it yet Sean, but can't wait to. That was one bad ass show.
  2. Not yet. Got busy with work, and am still about 5 games from ending the season. Looks like it may be Wild Card for but me, but there is a slim chance. I'll get back to playing tonight after I get beat by the Angels.
  3. Thanks for the good words oldtimey, just love being able to share the game with us hardcore baseball gamers. Sounds like you got a great one going there too. Please keep us posted!
  4. BTW, Hamilton was walked 3 times, 6 in total from my pitching staff. There is simply no way around this lineup.
  5. WEAVER SOLID, STIFLE A'S A.L. West Standings A.L. Wild Card A.L. East (for anyone interested)
  6. Other than Granderson and someone else (don't remember who it was, couldn't have been anyone of much importance) are on the DL. The Yankees are a GB in the East, and only 2 GB from a Wild Card spot. They've been on a tear this month and don't look to be slowing down. With a solid, healthy roster, they're extremely capable of taking that division. Edit - BTW, it was Phil Hughes on the DL too.
  7. Vuvuzuelas. Now that you mention it, my wife did tell me what they were called at the time. Not hard to imagine they got banned, and as I've said, if soccer fans in said particular arena enjoy it, then good for them. I honestly couldn't even hear the announcers over it, to be honest.

  9. JOHN JASO ENDS IT IN THE 12th AS THE A's TAKE GAME 3 OF THE SERIES September 21, 2013
  10. ah, found a vid of this God awful noise. It got a lot worse as the games went on, and it NEVER let up. Seems I can't embed the vid, but you can still click on it. At your own risk. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mShz9itP5M
  11. I do remember a bit of this Y4L, and as Jim had said earlier, to each their own. My step-son (Norwegian) was here in 2010 and hijacked the big screen on a daily basis to watch the World Cup. The only thing I honestly remember about it was the crowd has these devises, noise making devises, that sounded like a 100,000 sick ducks yacking all at the same time. I simply couldn't take it, and found excuses to be out of the house while it was all going on. Good Lord, I have no idea how the players could even concentrate.
  12. Great story, Jim. Believe it or not, I went through the same thing with my ex wife. We'd visit every Sunday, and it was the same 'ole, same 'ole. My father-in-law was parked in his lazy boy with the race on, and it didn't take long for him to doze off. However, I'd make every excuse in the world to find the porch swing outside and at least wait until the coast was clear. As far as hockey goes, I simply could never see where the puck was, but what always baffled me the most was how those guys could skate amidst the chaos. I've tried, and I can't even stand up on the damn things.
  13. Just to add though, and it may be a bit off the beaten path, but I absolutely love spring board diving. The bodily grace to me is hypnotizing. Did it for many years when I was younger, like watching it even more.
  14. Good post, Jim. Make no mistake, I feel the same way about hockey too. Oh, and NASCAR or any other form of racing.
  15. I fee the exact same way as you do about soccer, Y4L. Being married to someone from Europe (11 years now), I've done my very best to try and get to "like" the game -- understand the rules, and so on. It's just not going to happen. Her family was visiting in 2006 just in time for the World Cup, and of course they were glued to the T.V. the whole time. It was chaos, the excitement that they showed was nothing short of one of us perhaps watching the Super Bowl with either our team in it, or perhaps one would have money on the game. I may have posted this here on the site at one time, I honestly can't remember, but this vid is about an American NFL coach who crossed the pond and was now trying to coach a soccer team. One of the most hilarious vids I've seen in a very long time.
  16. Actually it did, Y4L, I had that one as well. The Saturn, obviously, turned out to be a flop. The game wasn't all the good either.
  17. If Seattle would just give me a little help. I squeaked out tonight's game over Minnesota 2-1 (Cespedes HR in the 8th), but the Mariners are laying down for the Angels. That Wild Card spot is looking like it may be tailor made for my A's this year. But hey, I'll take it. September, 20 Highlights
  18. CESPEDES CARRIES A'S WITH 4 RBI'S ON 3 DOUBLES JED LOWRIE DISPUTES CALLED 3RD STRIKE CHRIS YOUNG HAS BEEN KEY TO A'S SUCCESS IN CF AFTER COCO CRISP GOES DOWN FOR THE SEASON
  19. He won't be doing it again. The only numbers he's going to pad in the last series against me is his .OBP when I walk his a@@ every time he comes to the plate. Same goes for Pujols. It's really the only chance I have.
  20. I remember waiting and waiting on Hardball III to come out. Was driving me crazy seeing it in all the gaming magazines and not being able to play it until they released it. As usual, I locked myself (had no kids at the time) in my game room and pumped out a full season that summer. After that, a year or so later, I couldn't wait to get my hands on Sega's World Series Baseball, which was one of my favs as well.
  21. I absolutely destroyed Minnesota. Got down 2-0 in the top of the first, Cespedes went on an absolute tear. 3 doubles, all off the left field wall, 4 RBI's, and by himself sent Minnesota back to the showers. Rangers won, Angels were off. Will post tomorrow. I'm in no way religious, but I'm on a mission from something above. What a season.
  22. Just a bit of info, per the teams listed above, Minnesota, Seattle, and Houston all have losing records. Hopefully I can gain some ground in both the Twins and Mariners series', with Texas helping me out a bit vs the Angels.
