  1. Time changes in about 15 minutes.

Kids with cell phones drive me nuts. In their defense though, I never thought I would get one, but I did. It sounds funny saying that though, because I ended up getting one all the way back in 1996. Also, I said I would never get a fancy one that had internet, but here I am with a fairly new phone (got it a few months back), and use the net to check scores and such every day.

My phone wont come to the dinner table though. I find it highly disrespectful, and don't like when my wife's former step daughter comes over and and is on hers the entire time. Doesn't matter if we are watching a movie, eating dinner, or playing a game as a family.... Text messages are constant. I don't approve of it, but my wife is okay with it (probably why the kid is that way now that she is a teenager), so she is allowed to do it.

I get the feeling that this is one of those weeks that I will either get 12 right, or 3 right... No in between...

  4. What gets me is that I have had a pretty solid year so far, yet had I actually picked in week one (wasn't around much that week, and didn't notice the thread til it was to late) I would have had to go 12-4 to equal what DOT's record is for the year... And Dylan is just 1 win behind that... You guys are doing great.

Percentage wise, I would be in 3rd right now, so I feel kinda good about that.

  5. It's been a horrible week for picks.

Heck, I thought I picked the Bengals.... Had to go back and check after I saw what Dylan said... I know Bengals was my original pick, but sometimes my gut tells my brain it's wrong, and I change it... lol Must have been one of those times... :)

  6. Guys I had let Andy know he forgot to underline a choice for the NE @ SD game. He PMed me and let me know he's chosen the Patriots.

Is it cool if I entered this pick, or should I leave it as a blank?

Should be no issue there. You let me enter the MNF score late last week. I mean, the game had not yet started at the time you posted it anyway...

  12. We used to do this back in the day over on Simcentral.net. Since not many people come around there anymore, I am not even sure if they still do it. I actually finished 3rd one year, but for the most part I will usually end up one of the cellar dwellers.

  13. Besides Mark I got to remind you again if we lean on him too much some people out there will accuse us of treating these people like "sh** beneath our shoes." Don't want that to happen.

Wow. You really are a piece of work. You need to learn how to stop holding grudges as well. You know... Forgive and forget... I mean, how long has it been since I made that comment... One that was justified at that time, by the way... I don't think the person I was defending did anything at all on that day to deserve the treatment he got. If memory serves me, he ended up acting out later on in the thread, but you do too, when people call you out..

But yeah, the day you guys learn to differentiate between dumb people asking stupid questions (like the one from Vikrant above), and some people that are new, and really just don't know... We are all human, and sometimes we make mistakes... You guys tend to lump 80% of these questions into a pile, and talk **** about them all... Then you throw in a few nice comments towards an occasional dumb question, and all of a sudden, you're a saint or something..

I was lucky enough to be one of those guys who was treated right. Granted, I have been around the block a time or two at others sites around the web since I first joined the world of the internet back in 1996... I understand how some people work, and I came here with a different attitude than some of the newer people. Maybe that is why I was one of the "chosen ones" (at least for a while.. Til I ruffled your feathers).

I could care less how you treat people who come in here and act like Vikrant was... It's the instant responses that bug me. If a guy comes in and acts like a dick from day one, tear him apart... I mean, we all like to give people a hard time, but there is no need to be a jerk right back. Vikrant came in, got picked on a little bit, and acted like a baby... Fine, have your fun, he now deserves it... But, if a guy comes in and asks one dumb question, because he doesn't know any better, and 5 or 6 people (including 2 or 3 admins) start ripping on him, and treating him like ****, how is he supposed to react?

How many potentially good members have been driven away because of how some of the admins treated him.

Hell, I was nearly driven away in my first week when one of the admins didn't agree with my stance on steroids, and asked me 'if I was drunk... I mean, how can anyone be that stupid if they aren't drunk'. Now that isn't an exact quote, and Y4L, you may even remember that day, because I think you are one of the ones that came to my defense...

In the end, all I am saying is that there is a fine line. Sure, you don't want to give some idiot the idea that he can be like that all the time, but you also don't need to jump down a guys throat over one dumb thing.

I am sure my thread will be broken down in quotes, by paragraph, and responded to... Or maybe just ignored all together.. That's fine... This isn't my site to run, you do it however you think Trues would want you to...

I really don't go to the forums anymore.. I pretty much just scan the "recent topics" on the home page to see if I see anything interesting or not. I just happened to stumble across this thread today (15 days after the above comment was made). I probably wont come back in any time soon either, so feel free to tear me to shreds for standing up for the few people that deserve it. Wont bother me at all.

    Have a wonderful day :)

    Mordecai "Three Finger" Brown

Mordecai Peter Centennial Brown (October 19, 1876 – February 14, 1948), nicknamed "Three Finger" or "Miner", was an American Major League Baseball pitcher at the turn of the 20th century. Due to a farm-machinery accident in his youth, Brown lost parts of two fingers on his right hand and eventually acquired his nickname as a result. Overcoming this handicap and turning it to his advantage, he became one of the elite pitchers of his era.

After a spectacular minor league career commencing in Terre Haute of the Three-I League in 1901, Brown came to the majors rather late, at age 26, in 1903, and lasted until 1916 when he was close to 40.

Brown's most productive period was when he played for the Chicago Cubs from 1904 until 1912. During this stretch, he won 20 or more games six times and was part of two World Series championships. New York Giants manager John McGraw regarded his own Christy Mathewson and Brown as the two best pitchers in the National League. In fact, Brown often defeated Mathewson in competition, most significantly in the final regular season game of the 1908 season. Brown had a slim career 13-11 edge on Mathewson, with one no-decision in their 25 classic pitching matchups.

Brown was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1949.
