ABOUT THE UNIFORM The Padres unveiled all new uniforms across the board in the offseason. The Padres based the home and away designs off of historical uniforms from the former Pacific Coast League team by the same name. The digital camoflauge pattern on the alternate is based on the same pattern that the United States Marines wear. Many see it as nice upgrade from the previous green military themed uniforms San Diego wore in previous years, as it looks closer to modern and current military styles. Enjoy! Giants star Christy Mathewson was among the first big leaguers to enlist and serve during World War I. During the World War I era, the first organized teams began to appear, and by World War II, major league stars in their prime including Joe Dimaggio, Ted Williams, and Hank Greenberg put their careers on hold to enlist. In fact, as a result of his military service, Greenberg only played 9 full seasons in the majors, and Ted Williams could possibly have hit 700 home runs if not for 5 years of service. After World War II, all of the branches of the Military cut down their firepower, and baseball in the Armed Forces returned to amateur level. During the Vietnam era, men such at Garry Maddox and Jim Bibby served overseas before their careers took off. The trend seemed to almost disappear, as very few players in recent history served. The most notable is Iraq veteran and former Marine Cooper Brannan who recieved a minor league contract with the San Diego Padres in 2006. Today The Military All-Stars travel the country and take on various college and minor league teams, and are the only American joint forces team in the world. ABOUT THE UNIFORM The 1938 Phillies moved from the crumbling Baker Bowl to Shibe Park. For reasons still unknown today, the Phillies wore blue and gold uniforms for the 1938 season only, as they swtiched back to the traditional red and navy blue colors in 1939. On the field, the Phillies finished dead last with a record of 45-105. ABOUT THE UNIFORM The Miami Marlins were a AAA minor league team in the International League. In 1956, Satchel Paige pitched with the team and wore this uniform. In 2012, the Florida Marlins are rebranding themselves as the Miami Marlins, so this uniform fits nicely and can be thought of as a concept as well. On the left sleeve is the old Miami Marlins logo that appeared throughout the 1950's. Included are three uniform sets, numbers and uniform select screens. There are two versions of this uniform. The TC10 version is specific to the Total Classics Phase 10 mod, while the MVP 05 version is specific to any standard MVP 05 install. The TC 10 version updates the uniforms for the 1962, 1969, and 1973 Mets. The slightly different 1969 version includes the "100th Anniversary" patch worn by all teams. The TC10 version will be available under the three New York Mets slots and the MVP 05 version will be available under New York Mets alternate slots (28l-m). If you want the uniforms in another slot instead, just unzip the files and rename the .fsh images to whatever slot you like. ABOUT THE UNIFORMS 1962 The 1962 expansion Mets have the dubious distinction of having the most losses of any team in the "modern" era. They finished 40-120, and no pitcher on their team had a winning record. Richie Ashburn was the team's lone all-star, hitting .306 in his final season. 1969 The "Miracle Mets" relied on young talent to reverse their fortunes of a previous decade of futility. Led by Tom Seaver, Jerry Koosman and a young fireballer named Nolan Ryan, the Mets shocked the baseball world by winning the pennant with a record of 100-62 and the world series over the heavily favored Baltimore Orioles. 1973 The Mets rallied from last place at the end of August to capture the NL East title and defeat the Cincinnati Reds to reach the World Series. In the fall classic, they lost to the Oakland Athletics in 7 games. Willie Mays played the final games of his career on this Mets team. The TC 10 version will not overwrite the originals, but instead will be in a different, subsequent slot. This is to eliminate the problem of numbers on the front/side of the uniform that are hard coded into the game and cannot be removed. ABOUT THE UNIFORM The 1961 Reds seemingly came out of nowhere to go 93-61 and capture the National League pennant in the very last 154 game season. Outfielder Frank Robinson was the NL MVP and pitchers Jim O'Toole, Joey Jay, and Bob Purkey all had career years, with Jay garnering 21 wins. Unfortunately for Cincinnati fans, the Reds were overmatched and lost the World Series in 5 games. The Reds wouldn't win another pennant until 1970. Rule 5 draftee Bo Belinsky threw the teams' first no-hitter on May 5, and in today's wild card era, this Angels team would have certainly made the playoffs. Other notable players included Leon "Daddy Wags" Wagner, Ryne Duren, and Jim Fregosi. This uniform features the famous "silver halo" that the Angels wore on their hats for several years.
