  1. Hey Y4L, (1) Yes, the game that has far more mods out there is the NBA 2K12 game (last year's game) and not the current version which is NBA 2K13. 2K12 just happened to have a ton of phenomenal mods made for it and this includes primarily classic rosters, the ABA mod, and this UBR (Ultimate Base Roster) project that is still being updated to this day. The UBR project is the one where you can play every single season from 1975 to the present day and it also includes the ABA rosters/mod. The cool (and different) thing between the classic rosters of the NBA 2K games and MVP Baseball for example is that all of the "classic" graphics (like cyberfaces, logos, and uniforms) can be added to a single game install. And the key to unlocking all of these features in contained in the roster file of the game. For example, if you load up the 2013 rosters and you choose the Brooklyn Nets, you'll see their modern arena (Barclay's), uniforms, logos and rosters. While in the same game install; if you simply went and loaded up the 1984 rosters and chose the Nets again...you would see the early 80s New Jersey Nets logos, uniforms, rosters, etc. In other words, you do not have to have multiple installs for each of the roster years...you just need a single install of the game and the rosters are the "key" to unlock the proper graphics. (2) The ABA mod/rosters are a big part of this UBR project and it includes all of the great ABA teams and from multiple seasons. Since the New York Nets were very popular and successful; you'll see many different years/rosters for that team; but I think there's only one year for the Virginia Squires (one of the Dr. J years of course). This full UBR mod comes in 5 downloadable parts at the NLSC (Nba Live Series Center) website. I'll be glad to help you out with getting everything set up if you go ahead and pull the trigger on this game. It's a phenomenal project. -Dennis
  2. This is great jogar...just don't show this face to Tim Hudson of the Braves. That was a brutal injury the other night.
  3. Thanks mcoll, your information actually does help me. So, you can use those uh1000 and uh1001 uniforms as templates? And can you only use them in NBA 2K13 or can you use those same template uniforms in NBA 2K12 too?
  4. Hey Gordo, Sorry, I've been away from the PC today...but yeah, it doesn't really matter whether you apply patches to get any of the mods to work properly. This goes for NBA 2K 11-13 at least. I think back in the NBA 2K10 days, you did have to apply a patch to get some mods to work properly (like cyberfaces mostly).
  5. Hey thanks John...you know me and you...we are always on the look out for the Minor Leagues and their uniforms/changes.

  8. I thought that since mcoll, bctrackboi11, and daflyboys (and including myself) have been interested in the NBA 2K series…I would start a thread with questions, screenshots, videos, or general help concerning these games. It would be great to help each other out or get some creative ideas with modding or just playing any of these games. And to start off, I actually have a modding question for either bctrackboi11 or mcoll about editing jersey numbers. I’ve been making some uniforms and floors for the 1975 mod/rosters and I made the 1975 Seattle Supersonics uniforms last night. I had to borrow the uniform numbers from another team because I haven’t been able to color/edit the numbers or letters in this uniform file. I know some uniform numbers can be easily re-colored in Photoshop and imported with the 3DM Mod Tool and they show up properly in the game. But these uniforms for the NBA 2K12 game (and UBR Rosters) will only show up lighter or darker (in brightness) but the color never changes. So, I wanted to know if any of you guys have experienced similar problems? Here’s some screenshots and my Sonics ’75 road uniform file that I’m having problems with…I’m trying to match the yellow of the jersey numbers closer to the uniform wordmark. -Dennis 2K12 Sonics Road Uniforms (1975).zip
  9. Geez Louise...it sounds like you've done about everything that could be asked of a user having these issues. I haven't had the exact same problem, but a couple of years ago with NBA 2K11; I was getting some inexplicable stuttering issues after halftime. I updated video card drivers and it did not really improve. Also, it only happened on that 2K game and Skyrim for whatever reason. I ended up downloading and running a superb (and free) Malware-killing program called "Combofix.exe" http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/combofix/ I have fixed issues with computers for over 17 years and this is one of the best and effective programs that will find the most obscure and potentially dangerous bits of malware on your system. I ran this program, re-booted, and un-installed/re-installed my latest video drivers and I swear to you that I had never had another stuttering issue with games. So, I would recommend running this program and perhaps completely un-installing/re-installing you video card drivers. Also, you might want to open the case of your PC (if it's not a laptop, obviously) and make sure that the fan of the video card is running and that the fan/heatsink is not clogged with dust or overheating in general. This also goes for your CPU fan/heatsinks and any other fans in the case. I sincerely wish you luck with this, because that has to be completely aggravating when you've gone through all of those other steps to try and fix the problem. Good luck, and let me know how it turns out. p.s. running Combofix could potentially take up to 20-30 minutes; but be patient and let it run it's course. -Dennis
  10. I believe that all 7 uniform files in the IFF are natively in DDS format. You can certainly edit the DDS in Photoshop (with the DDS filter) or PNG. I just happen to save my finished work as a DDS and import it that way. It seems to minimize any graphic glitches that may occur. and the plus with the warmups, is that we don't have to worry about an Alpha layer.
  11. LOL! Or don't use the Braves or Mets after tonight. Sheesh! Did you see what David Wright did to himself? And that Hudson injury? I felt pain just watching the highlights of that game.
  12. Hey mcoll, Yes, all of the uniform files are DXT5 8bpp interpolated alpha when you save it as a DDS. Also, I always make sure that the "Generate MIP Maps" is selected. I hope this works out for you. Dennis
  13. Hey mcoll, Hmmm...you're right...I got that error when trying to open a uniform IFF file with NBA 2K10 Mod Tool; but I didn't when I tried to edit some of the arena or floor IFF files. Another thing to try with the 3DM Mod Tool is to save your work as a DDS (not PNG or BMP) and import the DDS into the uniform IFF file. I remember having some weird graphic issues when making some uniforms last year when I tried to import PNGs; but when I saved the same work as a DDS and imported it...then everything turned out fine. I hope some of this info helps. Here are a few screenshots of my Rockets uniform and I have included the uniform IFF file if you want to test things out with my example. I made this uniform from scratch and using a template. My Fictional Houston Rockets Uniform.zip
  14. This is a collage from the ABA mod for NBA 2K12 with my favorite player. I made from various games in the ABA and Dr. J's first season with the Sixers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RO8fo4e7fMQ&feature=share&list=PLCF6ftksiDDncBZ8m7xGmuB7PK96wo6kH
  15. Hey, not to butt-in Gordo…but there is an entire Mega-Roster/Full-Mod project currently being updated for NBA 2K12 (last year’s game). This project is called the “Ultimate Base Rosters” and it’s all over at NLSC (Nba Live Series Center): http://www.nba-live.com/ They update this project almost every few weeks and add another season (or more) with every update. The most current update enables you to play EVERY NBA season from 1975-2013. This includes cyber-faces, accurate rosters, and arenas. They even include an ABA mod which I play all of the time since I am a huge Dr. J fan. I can make a couple of quick videos for your ’83 Sixers and try to get them posted ASAP tonight. Dennis
  16. Hey there mcoll, Are you trying to create new NBA uniforms from scratch or are you attempting to edit/modify existing ones? The reason I ask is because I have modified a handful of basketball uniforms since NBA 2K11 and I’ve basically just followed the basic tutorials like DonSpa released a while back: http://www.mvpmods.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=6633 I obviously know you are skilled in creating 2K baseball uniforms; but are you having these problems with the green layers showing up in the game when making NBA uniforms from scratch or only modding them? I modded some Houston Rockets and Seattle Supersonics uniforms for the NBA 2K13 game and I didn’t have any troubles after I made the changes. Have you tried to import your uniform components using the “NBA 2K10 Mod Tool” rather than the 3DM Mod Tool? I was getting some weird graphics anomalies SOMETIMES when importing into the 3DM Mod Tool but when I imported using the older “NBA 2K10 Mod Tool” into my IFF file, everything looked just fine. And I’ve had these issues with both the MLB and NBA 2K games. I don’t know if this information helps at all; but you might want to give it a try and see if there’s any difference. -Dennis
  17. Hey Guys, Just wanted to post a video that gives thanks to everyone involved with MVP 13 Baseball and to show off a 2-inning DEMO. As always, I am extremely proud to have worked on this project and to have worked with such a tremendous team of proactive and quality individuals. -Dennis http://youtu.be/iASg5pjXWyk
  18. Hey Y4L, Yes, I did take a look at the issue with the Florida/Miami Marlins uniform and it looks to be the same scenario as the Rays uniforms (the hard-coding of the front jersey number). And I forgot to explain in my previous post that we could conceivably change the LOC file so that the first slot for the Rays uniforms to say "1979 Throwbacks"; but it would automatically replace every instance of "HOME" with "1979 Throwbacks". In other words, what would look fine and correct for the Rays, would be wrong for every other team in the game. I'll make sure to check out the Angels uniforms too today. Dennis
  19. Hey there Y4L, Thanks so much for highlighting these uniform issues. I'm not sure about the Marlins and Angels problems, but the issue with the Tampa Bay Rays uniforms is inherent with the "hard-coding" of their HOME uniform slot. Back when they were the Devil Rays, their HOME/ROAD uniform slots were hard-coded to have a uniform number of the front of the jersey and unfortunately, it cannot be changed. That's why I moved their (post-2008) standard HOME/ROAD uniforms (which do not have numbers on the jersey front) into other slots and I put those 1979 faux-back jerseys in that first slot (SLOT A) because those do require a front uniform number. I guess it's just one of those quirks when trying to mod this game...I hope this made some sense. -Dennis
  20. MAN, that knee-drop and those photoshop filters! It looks like I'm watching it on a color TV in 1977. Can't wait to play this World Series. The Thurman Munson and Lou Pinella are the best I've seen in the Roster Vaults.
  21. I echo those sentiments daflyboys...I am so proud to have contributed to this great project and continue to help improve this phenomenal game. Excited to hear everyone's reactions on the game.
  22. Hey there Jay, yeah definitely a lefty and I actually used to pitch up until my first year in my first go-around at college ages ago. Too much partying and bad grades de-railed that dream however and I still remind myself how "over-the-hill" left-handed pitchers are always in demand in the majors. LOL! Anyway, I do think the player creator was very accurate, because for better or worse...my player looks exactly like me. The thing is, it did take me at least an hour to get it right. It was worth it playing a whole season last year and seeing the subtle things like when I would take off my cap on a hot day on the mound (in the game) and see that they also got my hair exactly right; I thought that was pretty cool. But doing a single player is one thing, but doing even an entire team must take a ton of patience.. I'm after you finish your '77 World Series teams, you'll be able to make yourself in about 20 minutes flat.
  23. Yes, I have to agree that's another thing I was disappointed with the player creator feature. For the past 2 years I've wanted to make a 1970s, authentic Oscar Gamble, but with no giant-fro option, I quickly abandoned the project. Seriously, I think you do a great job on making these players/faces...I think what can make it difficult for me is that there are almost too many choices and options when making these players. For example, I made myself in last year's game for Road to the Show and got picked up as a pitcher for the Orioles and it took me literally over an hour to make myself. I was happy with the outcome and realism but I cannot imagine doing these to the degree you have as well as the other historic rosters in the Vault. My hat is off to you. Getting excited to "replay" the 1977 World Series.
  24. Wow, that Reggie Jackson looks spot-on...excellent work. And boy those 1977 rosters and very realistic on The SHOW; I could swear this happened in real life. http://books.google.com/books?id=eqlguKlTa6sC&pg=PT174&lpg=PT174&dq=Reggie+bar+giveaway+at+Yankee+Stadium&source=bl&ots=GXFUdKIuW4&sig=IQ7hgvU-MBNqzXRFl5lftl9MZjQ&hl=en&sa=X&ei=PbDpUYjhGK3riQLA7ICwCA&ved=0CDgQ6AEwAQ
  25. Hey that's a great idea Jay...you're correct, it just "looks right" to have Chambliss to be #10 for the 1977 World Series. I was only 6 years-old when that World Series rolled around but it was the first World Series I ever watched on TV and I have some vivid memories of this. This is going to be very cool to see these "correct" jersey numbers for the players. I did a little more research and found out the MLB The Show is indeed tied to all "Official" retired numbers and they do (obviously) vary by team. As an example, the only official retired numbers for the Seattle Mariners is #42 (I'm sure #24 will follow very soon). So I downloaded some All-Time Team Rosters in the vault and Ichiro is #53 in the game: Randy Johnson is #51 by default but only because he was on the team first (until 1998). Since the Mariners don't really have any official retired numbers; you can make Griffey #51 if you want or you can make Ichiro #24 as well. That's about the only thing I do not like about player creation in The Show...I wish you could assign any uniform number you wanted. Other than that, I think it's a perfect system.
