  1. Maybe KG looked up NPB numbers. If so kudos, as fukodome was quite the lad over in Nippon =P. I think its only fair to do that seeing as hes been playing top level pro ball in his country and has no history over here. And if you see his numbers for the last few years, then KG is on the money.

    2005 .328

    2006 .351

    2007 .294

Remember Irabu (I think that was his name) of the Yankees? What goes on in Japan does not mean it will happen over here. Why do you have to use anything other than what he does here? The season is almost over and we know he's batting .259 against righties. If he improves next year, then you can update his ratings.

BTW, we are talking splits--and his Contact rating of 86 against righties.

  2. I'm done justifying myself on these matters. I will have completely updated batting ratings sometime during the offseason. If you're going to keep ****, save it for when the new UR comes out.

Hmm...sounds good, but I would love to hear the justification for Fukudome's 86 Contact rating--no 3-year average on this one.

Also, Owings, Pitcher for D-backs, has power ratings of 83 & 91 based on one year hitting 4 homers and next year just 1 homer--fairly same amount of at bats.

  3. Well, 79% of the time vs RHP, Fukudome puts the ball in play. His average is so low because he has a .303 BABIP as opposed to his .340 BABIP vs LHP?

What does "puts the ball in play" have to do with batting average? Contact is relative to batting average. What other player(s) do you have with a .259 batting average and 86 contact rating?

Also, what about Owings and those absurd ratings for contact and power?

  4. -Go to MLB.com

    -Pull up Gameday Enhanced

-Find a sequence that has his sinker.

    -Press F12 Print Screen.

    -Upload the JPEG here.

-Show how it DOESN'T break 2-8.

I just looked in UR 8.1 and he's listed with trajectory of 1-7 for his sinker. Seems like they don't know what you know, at least not yet. It will be interesting to see what UR has for him in the next edition.

I need a new pair of glasses, been playing too much baseball, so I'll skip that JPEG thing.

  5. He has possibly the best sinker ever that burrows in on RH hitters. YES IT MOVES THAT WAY.

MVPEdit says trajectory of 2-8 is not recommended for that pitch, which is what got me interested. Now, the question I have for you is how exactly do you know his sinker moves 2-8? I have never seen that trajectory for any sinker and just asking...

  6. It's become abundantly clear that Cavicchi should create a whole new set of rosters.

Get to it, we are all eagerly waiting.

Great contribution to the thread. Congratulations on bringing your wisdom into the conversation.

What do you think this thread is for? Just to say great job or also to bring up errors?

Does Brandon Webb really throw a sinker with trajectory of left 2-8 :?:

  7. KG,

By the way, how come you didn't jump in to answer my question about Brandon Webb? It is just right above my post on Taveras.

Three-year splits? OK, let's take a quick look at Hafner and A-Rod.

Hafner: 2005-2007 had 68 homers against righties in 948 AB comes out to frequency of 13.94. A-Rod during same period had 109 homers against righties in 1338 AB with frequency of 12.28. Slugging numbers are also better for A-Rod. Now we can take a look at your ratings:

A-Rod against righties has power of 91 same as Hafner and Hafner has Home Run rating of 11 while A-Rod has 10.

  8. Gee, Cavicchi, I can't get anything past you!

But wait a minute, my 2008 ratings are based off the 3 year splits from 05-07, in which Taveras batted .300 against RHP!

    Shocker!

Well, sure is a shocker since he only played 97 games in 2007. Taveras is in no way an 87 contact against righties. What did he do without 2007? And, do you always use three-year splits?

  9. Sounds like this 64-bit crap is causing you a lot of problems.

Yes, and someone said all would be fine.

I sent the author, Ty Wiggins, an e-mail days ago and not received a reply. Considering I donated for this program, I did expect to hear from the author even if all he could say is I don't know.

Microsoft says the program is 16-bit and DOS-based and that's the reason it won't work in Vista 64-bit. I know it works in Vista 32-bit Ultimate, so I will either stay in x64 Vista Ultimate without the program or go back to Vista 32-bit Ultimate.

  10. I am using Vista 64-bit Ultimate and can't install the program. I get this error message:

"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail."

The two requirements are installed, so what can I do to get this program installed? I extracted all the files to Documents, and when I click on MVP Editor the message above is what I get.

  11. The way I do it is this: When I finish the game, I go to the main menu of MVP 05 and then I hit ALT+TAB to go to the desktop. I then run the box score extractor and it starts and I get the message that says it is "searching for the memory address." After that, I follow the prompts and finally it asks me what do I want to name this file? I give it a name and that file is place in a directory where the Box score extractor is. So try this out the next game you play. Play a game and name this file something that you will have no trouble finding, call it TESTBOXSCOREGAME or something. You'll see it there in the BSE thread.

When you say after finishing the game, is that at the point where you select quit instead of Box Score? According to the readme, you are supposed to minimize after choosing Quit.

When I do as instructed, I don't get any options because the BSE runs so fast and automatically puts the box score in a folder it named 2007, which is the year of my dynasty. Instead of having my team's folder along with folders for every other team I play against, is there a way to have it automatically put only my Yankee box scores in the folder?

  12. I don't know how to do that. I go in the options to change the controller setup but It only gives me an option to edit auto feeling or manual. Oddly if I make the fielding assisted the base running does as well. But I'd like to be able to field.

If you want to field, leave fielding on manual and proceed as follows:

Go into your controller configuration that is in My MVP/ My MVP Options on the screen before choosing to load a dynasty. Delete all the button commands for running, and that should force the CPU to move your runners automatically.

You have a choice to change Defensive and Offensive button commands, but you need only delete the offensive buttons for running. You delete the buttons by double-clicking on the button command and choosing delete.

  13. For you guys having a problem installing MVP 07, go to http://www.eamods.com/index.php and download and install MVP 07 Reboot using TiT. Just create a folder in Program Files like MVP 07, install TiT into that folder and use TiT to install The Reboot 07 version.

Rios, if your runners don't advance it may be because you don't have auto-base running configured. Otherwise, you have to advance runners yourself. You can do auto-base running by deleting all the running options in your Controller configuration file within MVP options for your game pad.
