  1. That has nothing to do with sliders. Sadly it's a glitch the community was complaining about since 2k12 was released. But since 2k didn't give us a patch for the PC version we have to deal with it. Funny thing is: the XBOX users got a patch but this glitch wasn't addressed.
  2. Since I use a rating calculator I can not influence it in a necessary way. I tweaked the calculation a little bit yesterday, so maybe in future versions it will be a little bit more accurate (although this wasn't my primary goal, but maybe it is a nice sideffect). But in some cases I really have no clue what 2k was thinking when setting up their ingame rating calculations.
  3. Because I can not calculate the OVR. The game calculates the OVR. Simple as that. There always will be odd OVRs and no one can avoid them as far as you want to have realistic ratings (I mean specific ratings like contact and so on, not the overall rating). The OVR system of 2k is decent but still not the best one. When you look at Cabrera he got 93 contact (93 vs R, 92 vs L) and 94 power (94 vs R, 93 vs L). Then look at Braun: 89 contact (88 vs R, 91 vs L) and 89 power (88 vs R, 91 vs L). Looking to the OVR via this way then Braun's OVR is too high and Miggies too low. But for OVR calculating 2k is including fielding and baserunning speed, too and although Braun is not the best fielder in the world he is still better than Cabrera. And he is way quicker, too. That's the explanation for your question. Like I said the rating system is decent but it would have had room for improvement. When you look at some OVRs you will notice that often the CF have higher ratings than corner OFs. In most cases this is caused by the higher speed of the CFs compared to the corner OFs. E.g. in my new version Pence (RF) and Pagan (CF) will both have 85 OVR although Pagan's power is nearly 20 points lower than Pence' power. But he is way faster. And the OVR always has to do with the primary position of a player. E.g. when Gregor Blanco (with the same ratings) has an OVR of 77 when I give him CF as primary position, but he only is an 73 LF when I give him LF as primary position (still same ratings). I think we have two options: 1) We can make the individual ratings in a way that mainly the OVR reflects real life performance. Then gameplay realism will suffer. 2) We can make the individual ratings in a way that they reflect the real life performance. Then gameplay realism won't suffer but the OVR system will. But since the OVR is not too important IMO I strictly go version 2).
  4. So you think I don't need to send it to ya? Damn.
  5. I also tested out a new rating system for hitting and right now I am really really satisfied with the results it produces. Ingame it plays even a little better and the OVR (even of the minor leaguers) looks very nice, too. I used the updated steam/zips projections for it.
  6. Of course, you will get it before release! When I got it back I will release it!
  7. So cool! I am looking forward to your portraits!
  8. Intermediate state: - all AL West/Central/East and all NL West franchises contain now real minor leaguers (correct names, positions, birth dates, batting side/throwing arm) - huge update of the Astros' minor league system (complete ratings, accurate faces, and so on) - kept transactions up to date and added missing players (like Burch Smith, SD) I think I gonna release the next version, which will be fake a name-free version (!), over the Whitsun fest.
  9. Okay, I got some time to answer the question of LL. There are a few things that contribute to a runner being thrown out at the plate or blocked by the catcher: 1) Outfield Throw: in most slider sets the outfield throw is way too low. You should set it at least to 75, while 80 or 85 is even better. Otherwise the outfield throws won't be fast enough to cut a runner down. 2) Aggression of the Runner: Here I refer to both the aggression rating of the runner (who is at third) as well as the baserunning aggression silder ingame. If only one of the two is too low the runner won't try to advance and score a run although he could. In most slider sets the baserunning aggression is set way too low. You have to set it to about 70. But to let steals still work properly and not having David Ortiz trying to steal second from first because of the aggression slider you got to set the steal slider to about 35. 40 is critical and you will see Ortiz and his fellow snails running too often. I have seen some outs of runners who had doubled and tried to stretch it into a triple or runners who hit a single and tried to stretch it into a double. 3) Baserunner's speed: I have set it to 50 for both CPU and user (besides I play with auto-fielding and auto-running, takes away some user control but they act smoother and more realistic). When you set it too low the runner's simply won't be fast enough, nothing more to say. 4) Catcher's blocking the plate rating: I don't know the reason behind it but obviously 2k made the game engine in a way so that this rating has (maybe the biggest) influence on the blocking of runners who advance to home plate. I think this rating is hidden when you open a player's card in the roster or statistic screens but when opening an editor (doesn't matter if the ingame one or e.g. Vlad's editor) you can see that every catcher has this rating. In most cases the rating is between 65-80 for catchers with rare exceptions having above 80. When you throw from the OF to the C ingame you often will notice that the catcher is miles away from homeplate so he won't have any chance to get to the runner and block him. One could think that this is caused by poor throw accuracy from the OF but I can guarantee this isn't the only reason. In my roster I have set the blocking the plate rating of all the catchers way up (I think no one has lower than 80, many even have it in the upper 80s now) and I see a better positioning of the catcher and saw two runners out at homeplate being blocked by the catcher. I am honestly considering setting it to 99 because I guess then it will occur even more often. Besides those 4 points we suffer quite a bit from this glitch where the cutoff man doesn't throw when auto-fielding is enabled or when talking about AI fielding in general. That can't be corrected with slider or rating tweaks as far as I know - sadly!
  10. no need to worry. sometimes vlad needs a few days for answering mails or sending keys.
  11. The problem here isn't only the outfielder's throw (rating) itself. I gonna explain it further tomorrow. Quite busy right now.
  12. At least I don't know of a way.
  13. This is no argument against my post. But e.g. when you overload you try way too hard to throw a hard pitch and lose all controll over the pitch --> it goes wide. Test it for yourself, the pitches are best spotted when you fill the circle about 80-90%.
  14. Can only be done with a paid version of Vlad's editor. Btw the MLB teams all have real managers and coaches.
  15. Nice face! Oh I know that...
  16. I think you have a missunderstanding. When you fully load the pitch meter it says "max", but that does not mean maximum control of the pitch. It only means that you will throw with maximum power. Throwing with maximum power means the control of the thrown pitch is lower than it would be compared to at about 80-90% of the "max".
  17. Must have something to do with 2012 being the starting year. I read a little bit over at OS and now I really wonder what's the sense behind power splits for batters as far as they don't switch-hit. I think I will do the missing minor leaguers next and then we will see how much free time I got and depending on that I gonna decide what I will do going on editing. Doing this thing alone is really time consuming. But I like doing it. Sadly I still haven't edited a bunch of contracts.
  18. We can edit them but it causes a glitch. When doing it then the stats are not shown separately like the 2011 stats. When you play a season the stats are accumulated. Know what I mean?
  19. After I am done with full real name minor leaguers, what do you guys want me to do next? 1) Edit the ratings of the minor leaguers? 2) Edit the ratings of the MLB players (using updated ZIPS projections) to reflect current performances better?
  20. Nice! Could you make it so in the future that the face ID is the same as the portrait ID (in case you use are using my roster)?
  21. What? He has an accurate portrait. If you mean cyberfaces I don't do them anymore. Maybe you ask howington or someone else. Perhaps he could do it?
  22. The NL Central now only has real minor leaguers, too. Real colors and rating edits are lacking, this will come later. Names, birthdates, positions, bat side and throw arms are real. The complete roster is coming closer and closer. Funny: I played a game with LAA (Blanton) vs. the Royals (Mendoza) like it will take place this evening. It was my first shutout since a long long time and I won 2-0. Really strange game. I did not draw one single walk, got both runs off Mendoza on 6 hits in 6 innings. After that the Royals brought in Tim Collins and I wasn't able to get one single baserunner in the next 3 innings. He struck me out 7 times (I struck out 14 times overall ). Blanton was sharp. The Royals had the bases loaded in the 8th with one out. Then I brought in Scott Downs and with his strong sinker I induced a double play off Moustakas. In the 9th Frieri secured the win with his save.
  23. I got to thank you for allowing me to use the faces you made You're welcome
  24. Oh sorry. Gonna up him in the pack. You can download it now again.
