  1. Well I wasn't remembering correctly. It was Pena1's Accessories Pack for which he said we had to install DS's MLB Experience mod first since the two mods share a common file: global.iff. DS's MLB Experience Mod and Pena1's Onfield Display Mod don't have any files in common. You might be onto something by suspecting files outside of gamedata.iff. While gamedata.iff contains the icons, I don't know what file determines when those icons are displayed. Still, a few people on 2K's forum reported this issue claiming they had no mods installed at all, so mods may have nothing to do with it. Maybe the people experiencing this issue have something else in common. I have no idea what that could be, though...
  2. If you're talking about the game freezing-up at the end of a game, it could be due to using the keyboard/mouse to progress past the "Press START to continue" screen, then using a gamepad to actually play the game. Doing so results in a Player1/Profile1 Player2/Profile2 conflict that manifests itself at the conclusion of a game, which is when the game saves/updates the player profile. (No one but 2K knows why 2K12 needs to save the profile so...excessively.) Essentially, when you launch MLB2K12 for the first time, you're directed to create a player profile. By default, that profile is always linked to the Player1 controller. When the keyboard is used to get past the "Press START" screen, the keyboard/mouse become the Player1 controller, and any gamepad becomes the Player2 controller. (Player2 or higher -- I've seen it say 5 on my PC when I plugged it in after launching the game.) Now this is just my best guess at the actual problem, but when you play as any "Player" other than Player1, MLB2K12 will hang at the close of a game as if it's trying/failing to write to a non-existent or unloaded profile. To solve the problem, PC players with gamepads must use the gamepad to get beyond the "START" screen. For a little more detail on that, see here: http://www.mvpmods.com/index.php?showtopic=5298 Other than that situation, you'll need to provide further details regarding how & when you're experiencing the freeze so others can help you. P.S. This info may be of use for players with children who play MLB2K12. The game loads one profile when it launches, and as best as I can tell, only one profile can be active at a time. So, if you create any additional profiles for multiple players on a shared PC, each player needs to manually load their individual profile to make it the active one when they're playing.
  3. Hey HarleyRider. I responded to your similar post on 2K's forum... Hopefully you'll read it, since it's got all the info you need. Edit: And I now see that you did... =)
  4. I missed the 4/24 update... Apparently it was taken down before I even saw it. I suppose those who managed to get that update should be happy the ump has his proper-colored mask... LOL I still find myself wondering what was so wrong with these two rosters that 2K decided to pull them? And this last one was pulled the same day it went up... It's just strange, even by 2K standards.
  5. Someone on 2K's forum reported seeing this happen with a bone-stock vanilla install, and another person confirmed it. It was an intermittent issue for each of them, though, not a constant. I use Version 3 of Pena1's Onfield Display Mod as well, and my cursor and arrows appear as they should. But, I don't have DS's MLB Experience mod installed... If I'm remembering correctly, Pena1 said the MLB Experience mod should be installed before his Onfield Display mod. Perhaps you did it the other way around?
  6. That is really wierd... The installer somehow created an erroneous filepath? Hmph...leave it to 2K to pull-off some dumb **** like that. LOL Though the game is probably set to use that filepath, you're well aware it's not the path it's "supposed" to use... And of course, this is true not just for the Saves folder, but for the game's Cache folder as well. You could actually edit or at least verify those paths within the system registry if you wanted. Of course, if you choose to manually correct them, you'd also have to do a bit of manual Cut & Paste to move the files to the match the proper filepath. I found the filepath entries for MLB2K12 within the registry of my system in two places: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftware2K SportsMajor League Baseball 2K12 and........ HKEY_USERSS-1-5-1-21-XXXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXXXX-1000Software2K SportsMajor League Baseball 2K12 (the X's represent various numbers) Since my 2nd entry seems a bit odd and probably varies from system to system and OS to OS, you could find the entries yourself fairly easily. Click Start>Run and type "regedit" and hit "Enter." Regedit will then open, so hit Ctrl+F to open the search tool within it. In the search window, enter the full incorrect filepath in the search field and click the "Next" button. You'll be taken directly to the Saves and Cache filepath entries, and you'll see the incorrect path entries on the right. Once there, right-click on either Saves or Cache and select Modify. A new window will open in which you can manually delete one of the extra "Roaming" portions of the entry, then click the OK button to save it. Now repeat that step for the other [saves or Cache] entry. When both entries have been corrected, hit F3 (Find Next) and the search tool will resume looking for additional entries of that incorrect filepath. If it finds more entries, edit those just as before. Once they're done, hit F3 again to resume the search. Hopefully you'll see a prompt pop-up that says "Finished search through the registry." If you do, you've found all the entries that exist and can close Regedit.
  7. Yes, mcoll. I can recall DonSPa mentioning he contacted Ty about it via email, but had yet to hear anything back from Ty.
  8. I was going to suggest using Ty's, but since you have the DL disabled within that Franchise, putting a player on the DL might totally screw that entire Franchise game up.
  9. Well, with pitchers, I can understand the confusion regarding tendencies -- they have 3 more to set than fielders. The first 3 tendencies for a pitcher affect how he pitches, while the last 5 affect how he hits. So, bunting is how often that pitcher will bunt while at-bat. Since pitchers are generally pretty poor hitters (with a few exceptions), their bunting tendency is generally 50-60, Out by Strikeout is usually very high (~90 or more), and Out by Groundball tendency is usually in the 50-60 range. Setting pitch-type tendencies can be tricky if you want accurate representations of historical players. Most MLB pitchers use(d) their fastball(s) the most, with some exceptions. (Steve Carlton's big, looping curveball comes to mind...but even he would often use fastballs to setup a batter for breaking balls and off-speed pitches.) Anyway... In regards to abilities, if you're playing on PC (the fact you're on a PC-mod site suggests you are), I'd suggest using Ty's MLB2K12 Roster Editor and viewing the players on the "All-time Greats" teams. Look at a player like Ozzie Smith and see how high his fielding abilities are. Everything except his Arm Str is 99, and that's pretty accurate. His arm wasn't the strongest, but he got to just about every ball ever hit in his direction, and sometimes other people's direction, then delivered an accurate and solid throw, but not a laser-beam throw. I have no end-all-be-all sabermetric data for you to help figure that stuff out, but you can get a general direction based on existing ratings within the game. MLB.com does have historical records for past players, so that could help you figure out some things. Just hit "Players" near the top of the MLB homepage and you'll be taken to the player search.
  10. I guess the Brewers won since you released a Pack for them? And hopefully people will leave the other thread alone now, Wudl.
  11. I don't believe Wudl intended this to become a formal request thread, guys. It was simply a poll to determine how he'd proceed to perform face updates, and a team-by-team method appears to have won. He's even changed the thread's title, so it's time to move on. Wudl started a new thread with a team poll to see which teams he'd do, and in what order based on our votes. See here: http://www.mvpmods.com/index.php?showtopic=53461 With the release of his Brewers Face Pack ( http://www.mvpmods.com/index.php?showtopic=53489 ) it would seem they won the first round of voting.
  12. Thanks DS. Hope that helps make up for my previous goof... And yeah, I guess it is "wait and see" time...
  13. You're welcome, Crites. Glad to help.
  14. Hmm... I just logged into 2K Share and the 4-17 roster wasn't available... Perhaps that's the roster with the issue and 2K pulled it? Edit: I think that has to be it... If I play around with any roster pre-4/17, the ump's mask stays tan and doesn't follow the changes saved to the mask of home team's catcher. This makes me a little angry... That roster has (or is it "had" now?) some good updates, with player acquisitions, players off the DL, contract extensions, and the aforementioned catcher mask update. I went ahead and edited the crap outta that roster in order to update player equipment for a few teams I've been tracking the real equipment of in order to match the equipment the real players actually use. Once I was happy with that, I started a Franchise and two My Player careers using it. If the Ump mask is the only issue, it's no big deal and I can live with it. But with 2K having pulled that roster from 2K Share, I'm sitting here wondering what else might actually be wrong with it. Edit 2: Played around some w/ Vanilla Rosters: Both 4-13 and 4-17 roster. Fired up Padres @ Phillies. Roster 4-13: Ruiz's Mask default = Tan pad/Brown chin/Dark Gray straps. Ump's Mask appeared Tan/Black/Black, I guess like it should. I changed Ruiz's mask to White/TC2 (Phillies Blue)/Black. Ump's mask didn't change, so 4-13 works properly. Roster 4-17: Ruiz's mask default = TC1 (Phillies Red)/Brown/Black. Umps mask appeared: Red/Black/Black. It didn't have a brown chin, like Ruiz's. Changed Ruiz to White/TC2 (Phillies Blue)/Black. Oddly, the Ump's mask remained as it did above and didn't appear to change at all. Since I started with a team that wears red, I fired up some other teams... This time, I went with Giants at Pirates. 4-13: Barajas default = Tan/TC1 (Drk Black)/Dark Gray. Ump = Tan/Black/Black Barajas w/ Yellow/White/Black. Ump stayed Tan/Black/Black 4-17: Barajas default = TC1/TC1/Black (Pirate TC1 is Black, but a bit darker than regular black). Ump = TC1/Black/Black, similar to Barajas. (TC1 vs Black difference on chin was distinguishable.) Barajas w/ TC2 (Pirate Yellow)/White/TC1 (Pirate Black). Ump stayed TC1/Black/Black. I've got pics of all of the above, and they're close-ups, if you want to see 'em... It seems as though 2K borked-up the Ump mask while editing catcher's mask colors (possibly per my request/complaint on 2K's forum) for the 4-17 roster update. That could be why they've pulled that roster. It seems as though the umpire will wear a mask that matches the default mask colors of the home team's starting catcher. Adjusting those colors on the player and saving that roster doesn't affect the Umpire, which makes me wonder if there's some form of hard-coded coloring within a Roster which Umpire masks reference. If there is, then somehow that coding may now contain a color reference to the default colors for the mask of the home team's catcher.
  15. Up at the top of every page, there's a little magnifying glass icon. Click it. Edit: I should say, near the top-right of every page...
  16. Here ya go... Directions to create a player and stick him on a Double-A team. Start with a COPY of a roster. Load a roster and then Save it under another name, preferably a custom one so you know it's been modified. Select create player and begin your creative ways. Upon completion of your edits of a created player's skills, equipment, tendencies, etc., press Start/Button 10/Hit Enter and you will be prompted to assign this player to a team. If you do not assign this player now, he will become a free-agent and will appear on the roster's free agent list. When you assign the player, he will be on the MLB roster for the selected team. When assigned, you should be on the Free Agent section of the Management > Rosters screen. Find the team to which you assigned the created player. Since all teams have full, 25-man rosters, I advise releasing some scrub from Single-A, moving another scrub from Double-A to Single-A, then moving the created player to Double-A. You may want to actually dump/move players who play the same position as the created player, too. To do this, press 4 or push in the Left-Stick of the controller to switch between the MLB, AAA, AA, and A rosters. Once at Single-A, it's time to dump a scrub as described above. To do so, find the player you wanna dump, select him (Press A/Button 2/Hit Enter then select "Release." He'll now be a free agent and that team will have an open slot. Switch to the Double-A roster and find the player you want to move down to Single-A. Select him and choose "Send to Single-A" and this team will now have 24 players, meaning there's a slot open for your boy. Now that Double-A has an open slot, switch to the MLB roster and find your boy. Select him and in the menu, choose "Send to Double-A." Now you'll want to make sure he gets playing time... Bring up the Nav menu (hit B or ESC) and go to Management > Batting Order/Position Alignment and adjust the Double-A team's batting order and position alignment to include your boy. (Or pitching rotation if the created player's a pitcher...) Once all that's complete, you can save the roster. You could really do that at any time, but I suggest waiting til you get him where you want him so the MLB team doesn't get saved with 26 active players.
  17. Yeah... Franchise and My Player games which have already started will have controls unique to them. I like that because I prefer classic batting when playing my Starting Pitcher, but Total Control while playing my 3B Slugger. If your left-stick and right-stick push-in buttons aren't working, are you certain they're actually mapped somewhere within the Controls Setup? Usually Right-Stick is the default for Intentional Walk in the Pitching control setup. (At the VERY bottom of the menu.) The Left-Stick has no specific in-game mapped control within Controls Setup, but the game does use it to allow players to save replays, as well as bring up the Classic/Total sub-menu. P.S. If EA decides to jump back in and renew the MVP series, it'll probably take 2 years (or more) to see a product. Dev cycles are usually 2-3 years. (Though EA has been known to kinda 'sweat-shop' some of its Dev teams...)
  18. Nice catch, DS. I had never noticed umpire masks mimicking the colors of the home-team catcher. And man, I hope this isn't somehow my fault...catcher equipment was something I briefly nit-picked in a thread on 2K's MLB forum one day... I complained that catcher equipment needed to be updated as far as colors were concerned. I told 'em that nearly every catcher's mask in the freakin game had tan padding with dark-gray straps, but that the real players actually have color-coordinated masks with some combo of TC1/2/3 and/or black. Fast-forward a few days and the 4-17 roster was released. With it, nearly every single catcher's mask had been changed to TC1 w/ Black straps... And now that we see Ump masks mimic catcher masks, this could be the reason why just about every catcher's mask had tan padding -- to make the ump's mask more realistic. I've tried changing colors as you did, and as long as I didn't actually save the roster after making the color change, the umpire mask didn't change. Some pics: 1st 2K's Default Roster, Iannetta's mask padding changed from Tan to Green. Ump's mask padding is still Tan. 2nd 4-17 Roster w/ DS color.txt V.18.0 imported, pad changed from TC1 to Green. Ump's mask pad still TC1 (red). Each time, the ump is using Iannetta's mask as it is within the loaded roster, and it always mimics that color combo.
  19. I'm not certain what could be causing the problem for you, furball. And yeah, you can edit just about everything within a roster file in the game, but some things you just can't, such as player positions. Or, like I've run into, Position Alignments, Batting Orders, and Pitching Rotations... Editing these things within the game's Management function only works temporarily, even if you save the roster file. Once you close the game, all changes you made are lost, because as you'll find out, once you restart the game and reload that roster, none of the changes you made are there. To make things worse, I can't get Ty's Editor to change team Position Alignments and Batting Orders, either. (Haven't tried Pitcher Rotation.) I can make the changes/corrections within the editor, and I get a prompt from the Editor confirming my changes, but when I click Save, the roster doesn't actually save. It's as if these things are somehow completely hard-coded...
  20. Don't hit the "4" button when in the control menu because that will take you to classic/total control options specifically for the Keyboard, not the controller. You have to push in on the left-stick on the controller to bring that menu up for the controller. Look at the top-left box when you press 4 and it will say "Keyboard" and not your controller name. If you push in the left-stick, it will say the controller name. I also explained this issue here: http://www.mvpmods.com/index.php?showtopic=53425
  21. Just did as you suggested and fired up a Chi-Sox @ O's game. The black on those unis is nice, especially in a day game. It had that very slight "Touch of Grey" in the bright sunlight, and was pure black in shadow. Nicely done.
  22. I noticed the Black for the 2K Team when creating a My Player character was very dark. In fact, when selecting glove colors, changing to 2K Team's TeamColor3 was far darker than that charcoal-colored crap 2K put in place for Black-Leather. Maybe that exact color would be a reasonable alternative.
  23. Uh... Only problem with your Poll now -- all the previous votes are still being counted for the first 3 options, which are now teams. I actually have an option to delete my vote... If I may, I suggest starting a completely new Poll.
  24. You guys should see here about the bald-head bug: http://www.operationsports.com/forums/mlb-2k/543806-player-facial-features-altered.html DS and a guy who goes by kpkpkp found the cause (replacement call-ups for players on DL that cause the team total player number to go over 25) and a work-around.
  25. Very nicely done, Don. And I'll tell you what, I really enjoy reading the history lessons you include with each of your mods. That 3rd one is gonna cause people to have to bump-up their AA and AF graphics settings so their players don't into fuzzy blue blurs in the distance =)
