I respect Prince Harry for going to the field, like he is supposed to, setting an example by showing that the ones who start wars should be the ones to fight it. Nevertheless his presence there might be in millitary terms, counterproductive and or dangerous to everyone who happens to be around him. Man, I've never been in a flight THAT boring...Weird things happen on the sky! That poor child...We have a similar case in Portugal with a much publicized relationship between a soccer player and a singer-actress-dumb as a rock-socialite-(insert random followed by the media job here) who named their two baby girls some absolutely insanely ridiculous names. Which are supposed to be a merger between his and her names. The sad thing is that the guy who made that video was expecting this sort of reaction and he got exactly what he wanted, only double. And for one lousy video people get killed. And the situation in Mexico isn't much better either. My hope goes out to all the decent people in Mexico. The Yankees have a serious case of too much time spent playing themselves on computer games. They get this weird idea that because of their high power ratings in games they can smash at will during real life games. I wonder if Angelina Jolie reverses the whole idea of a guy having multiple wives. Pretty soon she's going to have get a second or third husband, because Brad Pitt must be going nuts trying to raise 27 kids - with possibly more on the way - and still find the time to look good, make movies and keep up with all she does. -

I get your point Y4L. I agree that too much replay is a bad thing. And of course, nobody in any sport ever loses because of ONE blown call. Like any good coach will tell you: 'Play well enough and the referees won't matter'. I haven't followed baseball for that long, but yes, games between the Yankees and Red Sox for example take way too long. My question is: Is there anything that can be done to shorten the time a game can last? Using replays to argue balls and strikes is just unnecessary. That part of the game is one where I think the human element makes the game what it is. But in other parts of the game, to me that would be a valuable thing, since in the end, the right call would be held. Questionable calls of 'Out' or 'Safe' at a base don't happen that often that it would slow the game that much. Also, putting a limit on how many calls can be questioned would be absolutely necessary. And yes, I also dislike the expanded playoffs. And too much interleague play also annoys me. For example, I understand when it's Yankees and the Mets, for its rivalry value, but some of the matchups are totally devoid of interest. Here in Europe, where football is king(soccer to you guys) it's been long discussed using technology to help the referees. Wheter it is at the goal line or judging an offside, horrible calls have been made throughout history and even made teams miss World Cups or lose Champions League semi-finals. But then again, different sports. Just to show you guys why I'm more in favor of using replays. -

Why don't you like replay? For me, as long as it's done in an efficient and quick way, I'm all for it. In the end, the truth holds up and we wouldn't have all the next-day controversy we have now with blown calls. And that's something I could definitely live without. -

The guys over at YES Network were saying the day after this happend that most of the umpires are in favor of expanding the use of replays. -

Could have, should have... Tex was the only one in a position to make an assessment on what to do. I read the same story about his sore calf. The problem to me is that there is technology available in order to sort these kind of situations out and it isn't being used. -

Through basketball, me and my dad got to know plenty of mormons. Also, even here in my small portuguese city we have mormons, spreading their word around. They have their quirks just like every other religion, but in general they're a peaceful and interesting bunch, who make babies by the dozen. Sign me up for that! Take baseball games for example. Even in MVP 05, pitch counts weren't all that visible or important to the game itself. In 2k12 it's basically the only thing that affects a pitcher's stamina. -

Holy crap, my dad told me that story about the woman in the restaurant. Just to show how amazingly stupid that woman is, I can just say that even Portuguese newspapers ran that story. The beginning of the football season depresses me because it's a sign that the baseball season is coming to an end soon. Also, I'm not that big of a football fan. What really annoys me is that I only have one channel that broadcasts baseball, and come this time of the year, it's football all day long. College football, pro football, canadian football... Damn you ESPN America. I wonder how that Boston College task force conducted that study... And the Detroit PD gets the Laziest PD in the world award for 2012. Swisher has been worrying me ever since I told Y4L that he was a valuable part of the NYY and that the Yankees should re-sign him. On the other hand A-Rod has been hitting a little bit better. Note to self: Keep my mouth shut regarding Yankee's hitters and let the universe unfold as it should. 18-wheeler drivers amaze me too. Specially because there never seems to be enough space in wherever they're trying to park their vehicles and in the end, they're almost always perfectly parked. I never understood the logic behind pitch counts. To me, it would make more sense if managers put a restriction on how many sliders, or curveballs or whatever. Since different pitches put different pressures on different muscles and ligaments and so on, throwing 100 fastballs definitely shouldn't be the same thing as throwing 100 curveballs. And a combination of both would be different as well. Then again, I know very little about the practical part of this game, so be free to teach me more about this. -

Thinking about it, you might be right. The Yankees have been surprisingly out of the big spending in the past couple of years. And they did announce last year that in the future they will be paying more attention to how they spend their money. A bunch of other teams have been spending a whole lot more than the Yankees. Still, they will forever be known as the team that outspends everyone. I don't think A-Rod is the source of the Yankees' problems. Like I've said before, maybe I just expect way too much of him every time he comes to the plate because I know that he has/had the capacity to do great things. I'm not a hater by any means. -

Clemens is like a bad cold, he keeps coming back. I'm guessing Jamie Moyer inspired him. Way to go LL Cool J, now that's walking the walk. I've been 3 days away and when I came back this trade had happened. I agree with most of your analysis. Poor James Loney. He was probably getting ready for the playoffs with the Dodgers and now he's going to play for a team that's crashing and burning. Every team needs a Nick Punto. There are days in which I'd rather have a Nick Punto than Alex Rodriguez. (I know, I keep complaining about him. For some reason the guy just annoys me) Maybe Magic Johnson can do that for me someday. Magic Johnson is really going all out for the Dodgers huh? I wonder when he'll realize that the Yankees own the monopoly of outspending everyone in baseball. I'm a bit disappointed because Melky Cabrera and Bartolo Colon are two guys who I thought were better than this. I have lost all the respect I had for Melky. Instead of stopping with the stupidity and accepting that he had been caught he just piled it on. And I was actually rooting Bartolo after what he did last year for the Yankees. Besides having played for the Yankees, I'm sure there are a lot more things that Clemens and these two share in common. I'm guessing they all like burgers, hot women and fast cars, but that wasn't really why they doped. I believe it would be far more interesting to investigate with who they associate outside their baseball organizations, because most of the times dopers get their supplies from people outside their teams. My sport doesn't even have any kind of testing at any level, even professionally, so believe me, I know what it is like to fight (literally) unfairly. In my case, most of the times I really try not to care, because in this very specific sport technique tends to overwhelm strenght. But in general, cheaters should be banned if not for life at least until the end of their careers, whenever that might be. -
I have only been in the Rogers Centre. At the time, 2000 it was still called the Sky Dome. I was visiting Canada at the time and I actually went to the Sky Dome for dinner. Apparently there was some baseball going on while I was eating. I didn't even pay attention to baseball then, but I liked the venue. Since baseball was something kind of new to me, I was paying more attention to the game itself. I have way more experience with soccer stadiums here in Portugal. I don't exactly know how it translates in terms of size, but soccer stadiums seem bigger to me. My favourite team's old stadium had a capacity for 120,000 people. Being there with 120,000 fans screaming at the top of their lungs was one of the great experiences of my childhood.

There won't be a 2K13. Unless your talking about modding 2K12 or MVP for next year.

Not that I don't need it badly in my country, but you guys in the US seriously need some justice system reform to prevent all those wacky lawsuits. R.A. Dickey has all my respect. If it was me, they would have to put a gun to my head and carry me off the field. When stupidity prevails, every bone in my body aches. I would definitly make a scene of some sort if that was me. Fortunately, R.A. is classier than I am and chose not to make a spectacle of an already incredibly stupid thing. I didn't know there was such a thing as a perfectly functioning iPhone. One of the top Portuguese athletes, Francis Obikwelu, did essentially the same thing as the guys from Congo you mention. He came to Portugal to take part in some track and field meeting when he was still a junior, and opted to run away from his delegation and stay here. He ended up working in construction and eventually went back to running, even winning an Olympic medal for us. The other guy who ran away with him did not have such a bright story, as you can see by me not even knowing his name. Francis is very thankfull to Portugal and has no ill-feelings towards his native Nigeria. In his words, he just wanted a better life. We are very thankfull for your efforts too Francis. I thought Kobe Bryant and Vanessa were divorced. I guess she just missed all the champion$hip$. I'm thinking that they must hug in a different kind of way in New Jersey than in the rest of the world. 'Insert random Jersey Shore joke here'. -
Wow! Since I've never played baseball at all, I always love to watch the kids play. Takes me back in time :)

Hey, it's a good thing that Phelps started yesterday, and he wasn't bad. He should be the Yankees' first option for spot starts like this. It should help him tremendously down the road, to be either a productive reliever or part of the rotation. I believe it could be worse. I just don't want to imagine it... -

Why would anyone buy an iPhone is beyond me. I have the same cell-phone I had FIVE years ago. Last week I dropped it and cracked the screen. I bought a new screen for 10 bucks and it's as good as new. I can make calls with it, send text messages, check scores, set my alarm clock, take some decent pictures, etc... Oh, and I can answer it with either hand without losing reception. I'm sure all the Apple-fanatics would want to lynch me after reading this, but that's just my opinion. Why spend 500 bucks on something that basically does the same than my 5 year old cell? (BTW: If you drop your phone and crack the screen, it's very easy and cheap to buy a replacement screen and switch it at home, rather than go to the store or buy a new phone) The Yankees do the same every year. Always with the 'top-rated prospects this and that'. The last guy to come out of the Yankees farm system to have some success was Cano, and that was years ago. Austin Jackson probably got lucky when he got traded. We all know how Phil Hughes is turning out. I'm already losing my sleep because of what might happen do Bichette Jr in a few years. To be fair, the two top pitching prospects (Banuelos and Betances) have had problems this year with injuries and underperforming. Nevertheless, If you don't have a guy in your minor teams who can step up and eat some innings for a couple of games, you might as well not have any minor league affiliates. Nowadays, parents see video games and computers as a useful parenting tool. It's almost like, if he's playing or on the web I don't have to spend any time with the kid, doing actual parenting. It does happen. Sticking your kids in front of a TV or PS3 will sure get them quiet, but it's also a recipe for disaster further down the road. Like Y4L's, my parents would also think something was wrong with me if I stayed in my bedroom or even inside the house for more than a couple of hours. To me, that's whats normal. Kids should be out doing kid things, with all the bruises and scratches that go along with that. -
The check swing feature also gets in the way of some pretty decently timed swings. I'll keep trying :)
-
I'm a keyboard guy as well. I've been getting better with time, going further and further each time but I still haven't hit one out. I tried with a controller but I just suck with it. I've never liked controllers. I can barely swing properly. (Maybe I should just insist a little bit or watch a tutorial on how to hit or something, but for the time being I'll keep trying with the keyboard) Maybe it's just a timing issue. Or just adjusting from 2K12 to MVP.

2K should pay you instead of some of their employees. -
That's pretty much what I do Brainy, but your explanation is far better than mine, thanks. Like Koopto, I'd also like to have other team's players on the DL. But since I don't control those teams, They won't go to the DL and therefor, that team will have something like 24 active players, or less. Any workarounds for this?

Awesome! -
You have to go to the rosters menu and then when all those options come up, there should be one saying 'send to the 15 day DL'. And then, after he comes off the 15 day list, you'll be able to put him on the 60day DL.

Hey, it's just about the only thing that hasn't been modded in MVP 05. But if it is online, won't you be able to sign up, or register, wherever you are? The language might be an issue, but hey, everything's possible in the internet. We can only hope, right?

Sometimes I wonder if the White Sox signed Adam Dunn (and I do like this guy) just to mess with the Cubs. Too bad the Cubs don't have a DH slot do put Soriano in. I can imagine the discussions between both Chicago fans: 'Our strikeout machine is a hell of a lot better than yours'
