Meyers and Stynes have faces from MVP 05, so I exported from the 05 models.big, and imported to the 78 models.big. Now all's good.

Myers is face #411, and Stynes is face #336. Neither of which are in the models.big file from 78. Simple fix.

I think I've found the issue: the game crashes whenever I try to edit Greg Myers (SkyChiefs) and Chris Stynes (Lynx). The reason my dynasty played fine was because Myers wasn't on the SkyChiefs in that dynasty. I'd suspect that a face file is missing, or something to that effect.

Background Info: A couple of years ago, I got TC78 on my PC running XP, everything worked nicely. I played a dynasty or two, then I left it alone. Earlier this year, I saw the Grantland article about MVP15 and came back to MVP Baseball. In the time between, I'd moved to an Apple, and copied the MVP environment from my PC into a VMware Fusion (also XP). Last week, I wanted to start a dynasty in TC78 where I flipped a couple of minor league affiliations (Ottawa Lynx and Syracuse SkyChiefs), so I was going to follow Jim's list so I extracted the logos, fonts, uniforms, and team audio. The only change that I made was modifying the IGENG.LOC and FEENG.LOC files to switch all of the relevant Ottawa and Syracuse info. Problem: After I edited the .LOC files, I went into the MVP 78 game just to see if the changes had taken effect. I went to the Jays AAA, and sure enough the logo was the SkyChiefs, but the words said "Ottawa Lynx." Then I went to play a game with the "Lynx" (actually the SkyChiefs slot), and the loading bar got to just over 50% and then crashed. I went back in and tried to play a game with the "SkyChiefs" (in the Lynx slot). The game crashed again. I went back in and tried to play games with other teams, which went perfectly fine. Post-Problem Experimentation: I loaded my previous dynasty, and simmed ahead until my AAA team played Syracuse. I went into play that game, and the game loaded properly. After being perplexed as to how editing some text would cause the game to crash, I figured that I somehow managed to butcher something. So I removed my MVP environment, went back to my PC, and brought that back. However, Ottawa and Syracuse still crashed the game, while other teams didn't.I deleted my entire VM (I only had MVP stuff in that one), created a new XP, installed MVP 05 from my disk, downloaded the most recent version of TC78, and went through the whole extraction-setup process. Then I started this new MVP78, but the Lynx and SkyChiefs still crashed the game. Being fairly disturbed by this, I went to my PC, and loaded the MVP78 from there. Much to my surprise, the Lynx and SkyChiefs were crashing games there, despite the fact that I touched nothing on my PC.At this point, I'm completely confused, so I started from scratch and installed MVP 05 into a Windows 7 VM. Download TC78, etc… I start MVP 78 here, and again, the Lynx and SkyChiefs crash the game.In conclusion, I've got no clue what's going on or why. The only thing that I could guess at is something's screwed on my disk, but that doesn't even make sense to me. Any solutions/recommendations/advice is very welcome.

I'm using Jim's 78 TC mod. The mini games work with the 78 players, but when I used John Olerud, who I pull in from the 05 version, the game crashed, but I could play an exhibition game with Olerud. It's not a big deal, I just found it strange that I could play an exhibition game, but not a mini game.

I followed all of Homer's instructions to copy the player, cyberface, and portrait. I exported the roster, and Olerud showed up in free agents. To make sure everything went right, I played him in a game, and nothing crashed. Then I tried him in the batting mini-game, and everything was fine until the camera was going to change from the pre-at bat animation to the at bat, and the game crashed. Why?

Is there a relatively simple way of switching minor league affiliations? I don't want to make them current, I just want to move minor league teams around. Also, if I give a team a new minor league affiliate, does the team keep their original roster or do the rosters change as well? I found a link about this on here, but it gave a "Sorry, we can't find this" error.

Export the player and portrait separately from the 05 version, then import separately into 78?

I downloaded the 78 TC mod, and I wanted to put the free agents (Olerud, Alomar...) from 05 into the 78 game, since some team could sign them and the game would crash. I saw some advice on this topic that Homer gave someone about 4 years ago, which I can understand. I used the 05 data and exported Olerud, change the to the 78 data, imported the 78 rosters, and tried to import Olerud. I'm trying to replace him with the Olerud in free agents. The "import complete" message showed up, but Olerud had no portrait, what's up?

I will tell you every step that I followed: 1) copy MVP to a "MVP Clean" sub directory of a "MVP Mods" directory 2) copy that to a "1980s" folder 3) take my downloaded file, extract the installation instructions and read them 4) extract the .exe to a "mod_Install" sub directory of "MVP Mods" 5) extract the installer to "mod_Install" 6) select "1980s" (which has the copied MVP) as the game folder for the Installer 7) The installer starts and freezes at models.big I followed these steps and got the 78, with much guidance, to work. I try everything again, and get to the end and then it breaks down.

It was the Best of the 80s & 90s. Is there some reason why the installer would fail like that (memory, maybe)? Where do I go to change from read-only access?

I went to go add another mod. I followed all the instructions. I copied a clean MVP to a file, I extracted the .exe to a mod_install folder, I extracted the installer to that folder, and I set the game folder to my folder with the MVP, but when I tried to install the mod. The installer broke down, and was unresponsive. I don't think I did anything wrong, the only other thing I could think of is my computer is running out of memory, but I had 5 free GB when I tried to install so I doubt that's a problem. Any advice?

But what about Jim Rice (who's also with the Sox), Scott Rolen, and Vlad Guerrero showing up in free agents?

One other thing that I just noticed. I started a new Owner Mode, and most of the 05 and 78 players, showed up in the free agents. Is this normal?

I didn't word that very well. What I meant was, when I go into the 1978 version, my roster, owner and dynasty saves are the same as the 2005 version. Could I have the 78 version with it's own set of rosters and such, while the 05 rosters stay with the 05 version, and don't show up in the 78 version. That aside, I'm very impressed.

The mod is on my desktop, and I have a 1978 file with my copied MVP in it. But when I click the mod on the desktop, I get a message that says it's a .rar file and Windows doesn't know what to do with it. What do I do?

OK, I think I get it. The MVP Clean is just a copy-paste version, and there is one in each year. What do you mean when you say extract the mod, just take it from the flash drive to the PC

So what would it show up as in the directory, and what do I do with the data and support?

I tried this, but I ran into some difficulties. I made a new "MVP Mods" directory. When I went to install MVP 05, and I was prompted to select a location for the install, I selected the "MVP Mods" directory. After the install, I had a data and a support folder in the directory. What do I do with this, or what did I do wrong. Also, my MVP 05 is on an older PC with no internet. Can I download mods to a flash drive and put them into the directory, or will this fail miserably?

Out of curiosity, is it possible to add new people into the Heroes and Legends roster, like people who retired between 05 and now (Junior or Randy Johnson) or people who should have been (Drysdale or Koufax, maybe Pete Rose or George Brett)?
